I have always enjoyed the steps system on stars. I am trying to think of the best way to go about this in a hu context. Using stars buyins. Say we want the best bang for out buck buy winning 3 matches in a row. They dont have 8 man tourneys so that is out. For example what I did this morning was start with $11ish in my account, win a $6.25 match, then a $11.50 match, then a $23 match. Taking my account to 48.50. Is there a more effective way to go about this? Apart from losing and having more than double digits in my account are there any flaws in my thinking, that this would be a decent way to increase bankroll while at the same time getting experience playing a variety of limits?
It isn't really practical because you will end up facing better opponents at the higher stakes games instead of just having a higher bet with the same odds. The variance will be insane and it is probably -EV and -$/hour as well. You would be much better off just playing the highest games you think you are beating and are rolled for.
