Lost two games because of that recently. Was wondering what you do in HEM? Was thinking about showing that I came in second but adding back in my buyin so that it doesn't mess my roi. Hopefully won't be happening a lot. So should I just ignore them and take the roi hit?
Variance will sort it out. Every once in a while you're going to get a freeroll because villain's connection craps out and he blinds down.
It does mess your stats up a bit if it's the opponent that loses the connection, you're getting all those blinds uncontested which is going to make his preflop stats get out of whack. If it's you that loses the connection and you don't come back, this hasn't ever happened to me but I assume HM won't record the results of it so that part wouldn't be affected.
What hem does is put it as a not finished tournament. So you have to click it as finished or it won't calculate the numbers in. I have had one guy lose to me when he disconnected. But, I have lost two when I disconnected. Happened at same time of day (very early morning), wondering if Comcast does something at that time that screws me. So what do you think I should do with them? Take the roi hit and mark them as a lose or should I mark them as a second place but, enter back in the buyin so they are roi neutral? I guess it doesn't matter in long run because they will even out but, I am wondering what a math wonk would do?
Just leave them flagged as Incomplete in HEM. When you're viewing your stats in HEM there are options to show Completed, Incomplete or Both- so it dead easy to filter wonky results out. Thee options aren't in the filter panel btw, they are radio buttons you can select just above the stats iirc.
Yeah I'd just leave them incomplete, not your fault so why mess up your stats I guess :)
But then what to do when you win by a disconnect?
Well that's a good point, you're stuck with those, maybe you should include the losses after all then to balance it off. This brings up another point, what do people do when your opponent is disconnected? Do you sit out and wait? Do you play normally? Do you pound out the min raises to maximize the blinds you take down while he's out? Personally I pound them, it might not be the best etiquette but the hell with them I'm playing for money here :)
YOU POUND THEM!!! I railbirded a $230 HUSNG at PS and a guy got disconnected and lost 1/2 his stack. Mind you if he was at FTP he would have lost it all. PS is much better because there is 10 second delay before each hand is folded. No delay at FTP. As quick as you bet he folds.
LOL well I don't feel like such a barbarian now :) Or maybe we're both barbarians :)
I am a barbarian. Have lots of Cossack blood.
