What About the Middle Game?

HiAs a new online player, and a new Holdem player, and a new HU player after a few weeks I love the 1v1 game.  So, what am I doing?  Playing a bit, but sorting out my game so that it is natural to me - playing some offline stuff against a mixture of player types, so I can take my time and think it out.  I have a decent opening game and end game sorted, at least to get me well into the game with some success at the lower levels - mainly thanks to you guys and your videos.  But there doesn't seem to be much emphasis on the 'middle game'. For me the middle game comes towards the end of the 15/30 blinds and through most of the 25/50.  The opening game has produced a lot of testing each other out and trying to read how the oppo is playing and trying to exploit his weaknesses.  Lots of 3x betting and c-betting and tight-ish OOP.  Adjustments as the villain attacks various areas and as I attack his weaker areas.  Now I can only assume that the effective BB ratio, that started at 75 and allowed you a lot of discovery lee-way and took away a lot of any pressure both players were trying to exert, has now dropped to 30 and 20 has some effect on your bet sizing and possibly how you now play.  You have good reads on the villain but he changes around this time of the game - almost as if he was playing one type of game during the first half of the match and the comes out for the second half with a different plan.  Several TAGs have just become plain Aggressives for example! Any help much appreciated. Cheers Doclands

In turbo games I think most

In turbo games I think most people consider middle game 30bb - 10bb or 30bb - 15bb (Depending on whether they consider 15bb or 10bb the beginning of end game). I think regular speed games would be the same but I am not sure.It appears that at this stage of the game you should not be calling with weak drawing hands because you no longer have the implied odds to call. Big cards become very important because your stack to pot ratio is now small. As a result if you flop top pair you are now willing to get all in against just about any type pf player. We still have to pay attention to how our opponent plays at this level. If they change the way they play, we need to adjust accordingly. We still need to figure out frequencies and ranges so we can know if we should 3bet, c-bet, 2nd barrel and so forth. If I understand correctly, the series by Barewire and Skates "From Heads Up Cash to HUSnG" is suppose to cover this topic.Again, please contact a professional before accepting any advice from me. PaulIB_FishingSurprised that I can sound like I now what I am talking about lol
