The Well: PrimordialAA

Hey guys, I know everybody here isn't necessarily a huge 2p2r, so if your interest in asking me any question at all, you can read some that others have asked me here, and ask your own in here, or in the thread (i'll probably mirror all questions asked here in the thread as well)

Is it true that a baby's on the way?
Can we start a bidding war to name the little bugger?
I'd pay a lot for the following names:
1) Ship-it
2) Ty ty
Let me know if you're interested...please don't forget to ask your wife, because she might over-rule your "no" because of greediness :)

How the hell are you 21 and

How the hell are you 21 and have such a huge roll? Are you really 21? I mean, to me that says you grinded up a roll pretty quick - which is astonishing for me, a 24 year old, because it takes me months to move up a stake level. Granted, I also cash out for some life expenses and things so I am not constantly padding the roll. If you were to never say a word to me again, just please tell me your story of grinding your roll up. Like, starting from the low-mid stakes. Don't afraid to be too detailed, if there is anything I want to hear from established pros like yourself it is just how the hell they specifically built up their roll.

Also, all of your traveling - for fun, for school, work? If for fun, did you just randomly pick a spot, move out there and play online and that paid for your living out there? If so, sick life.

yea haha, I am only 21 (turn 22 on May 20th... Wednesday)

All of the traveling... went to europe for a semester abroad for school (Budapest, Hungary), said F school and stayed a second semester for gf (wife now), and while I was there traveled to like 20 or 25+ diff. countries, etc.  ,  Then I moved to vegas for the summer w/hokie and met a bunch of people, had a great time, moved to Montpellier, France w/my gf and traveled a bit more, and now im back in the states :)

As for my progression through the limits, I gave a summary in the 2p2 thread, but let me know if you have any more questions, or anything you want to hear in more detail, and i'd be gladd to answer them for you :)

Cool, thanks Primo. Stories

Cool, thanks Primo. Stories like that are important to me, they help me to gauge my progress as a HUSNG player. Right now I'd say I'm here: "Pretty back and forth, pays for stuff, but nothing substantial, but im paying for bills and living better than most other people my age." Well, maybe not living better - I am 24.

You been to Canada yet? When it comes time to visit Toronto, I think I owe you and wifey a drink or five.

What is your advice to a player who is looking to move up through the limits (starting at the $20s).... as far as BR management, volume, when to move up, how many tables to play.......

What is the most common leak you see in small stakes HUSNG players?

Thanks....

alot of it depends on what

alot of it depends on what your comfort level is, and what your trying to do with poker, if your trying to establish poker as a career, starting at the $20s, and you wouldn't be able to replace your roll if you lost it, I would give the following advice

First off, do NOT be afraid to stay at a limit LONGER THAN YOU THINK YOU SHOULD, dont be in such a rush to skyrocket to the limit where you see yourself making this great living, be it 55s, 110s, or 220s
BR Management:   I would reccomend never having <50 BIs in your account (seems like alot, I know) for the limit you are playing, and never allowing yourself to lose more than 10% of your roll in a single day (5 BI stop loss)
** it's OK to take some shots, so say you had 1,000 for $22s, and then hit $1500 and wanted to try $33s... attempting this would be OK, but I would reccomend you move back down if you drop below $1250, to maintain over 50 BI of your original level

Volume:  Don't stress too much about volume, it is obv very important, but don't force it on yourself if your not used to playing a ton of it. I would set a goal, like 750 games per month... so like 25 games per day or so, and I would try to hit that daily, but again, DO NOT FORCE YOURSELF TO HIT 25  EVERY DAY, if your not playing or feeling great, cut it short at 10 games, but on the other side, if your playing GREAT one day, go ahead and play 35 or 40 games that day, 25 would just be an arbitrary goal you set for yourself and a general guideline, not a binding thing

Moving Up:  I don't mind trying to take a shot up at like 30 or 40 BI of the level you are trying to move up to, but I would almost always move down after a 5 BI drop in BR, and I would ALWAYSSSSSS game select when trying to move up for the first time

Tables:  whatever your comfortable w/1-2 should be good

Most common leak in small stakes HU SNG players... I would say caling too wide OOP / calling 3bets too wide and playing wayyyy too fit or fold (not knowing when to contest pots where your opps range doesnt seem likely)

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any more :)

How important in math in the

How important in math in the HUSnGs? And how did you motivate yourself to get through all the heavy theory stuff like solving the 20BB reshove math? And did it show a lot of improvement in your winrate?

PrimordialAA's picture
I find the reshove math and

I find the reshove math and stuff to be pretty straightforward and relatively easy (once you get the hang of it!!), but it's easy if you do like 10+ equations, to see how it effects (like the wider they call, the less +EV it is, the more they fold, more +EV, wider they open, more +EV, less they open, less +EV), etc.
