I had three very basic questions. I'm two hands in, with no previous info.
Hand #1
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $11.00+$0.50 Tournament, 10/20 Blinds (2 handed)
SB (t1500)
Hero (BB) (t1500)
Preflop: Hero is BB with 6, K
SB bets t60, Hero calls t40
Flop: (t120) 2, Q, 6(2 players)
Hero checks, SB checks
Turn: (t120) J(2 players)
Hero bets t60, SB calls t60
River: (t240) 8(2 players)
Hero checks, SB bets t160, Hero folds
Total pot: t240
Hand #2
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $11.00+$0.50 Tournament, 10/20 Blinds (2 handed)
BB (t1620)
Hero (SB) (t1380)
Preflop: Hero is SB with J, A
Hero bets t40, BB raises to t140
1) What are your calling and 4-bet ranges in this spot?
Hero raises to t360, BB raises to t1620 (All-In)
2) What is your calling range in this spot?
3) Does any info from the first hand affect your ranges?
I'm no great player tcfree but here are my thoughts fwiw and I'm sure xSCWx will correct where I'm wrong ;)
1. I'm calling this and seeing a flop. Against an unknown with no reads, almost 70bb deep I'm calling a preflop 3-bet with 99-22 for set value and AT+, KT+, A5s+ because I can see a flop and re-evaluate from there.
I'm 4-betting TT+, AQ+.
2. Okay, so I 4-bet and he shoves over the top. No reads. I'm instafolding JJ, TT and AQ. I'm obviously snapcalling with AA and KK. QQ, I'm always less sure about. If we assume villain is a decent enough player and he's trying to get it all in preflop with TT+, AK then we've got about 52% against that range. If we factor in that at this level villain can easily be a terrible player with a far wider range, it's a call. AK, I dunno. Against that same range, we're down to 41% equity, but maybe that range is too tight. If he's willing to get it in with TT+, AQ+ then we're slightly ahead in basically a flip. Wider than that, we're good obviously.
3. I don't know how anything from the first hand could affect putting villain on a range. In that hand he opens 3x then goes check, call, bet. That could be TT, 99, 77, Jx, 8x, a busted draw maybe T9. Basically, we don't yet have a clue how villain plays his cards.
Kind of a tough spot, if villain had reads I would say he played this really well but since you're so early on it must be at least a pocket pair. From the first hand he looks like he might have some idea of what he is doing so in this spot I would give him credit for a big hand.
I don't hate your raise but to be honest I'd just flat it and take a flop in position with a strong hand. AJo is at the top of my folding range in this position (when he shoves), but the important thing is that it IS in my folding range, you are so rarely going to see a weaker ace which means at best you are going to be flipping, and more often than not you're going to be crushed.
Either flat his raise or fold to the shove, I think either one is acceptable but I'd prefer taking the flop. Especially if you think about what anyone would raise you with here. I mean, I can't imagine any player making that raise then folding when you come over the top (early on without reads) so with that in mind you are either going to be facing a shove, or if he just calls (which would be horrible with any 2 cards) you're going to be in a big pot where if you miss an A or don't make top pair with your J you're going to be in kind of a tough spot whatever he does.
That made sense in my head, I hope I wrote it down ok :)
edit
fold pre in hand 1
c/c turn maybe c/f
fold river
i call his 3 bet in hand 2, AJ plays verywell postflop and also keeps in a lot of his hand we have dominated, im just not toaly fond of getting it in here
