Hey guys,
I am loving the site and have found it an extremely valuable resource but one thing does bother me, it seems very difficult to find low stake games ($5-$50). I know there are a few videos floating about but I would really like to see more videos of extremely solid players playing the low stakes and how they make adjustments.
I enjoy watching the high stakes games, but I don't find it particularly useful to my game to hear someone saying "I've played 32 games against this guy before, so even though this board is extremely draw heavy I am going to check shove here because he gives me credit for a huge hand so much of the time..." and just... general stuff that is obviously a huge leak when playing a fairly basic ABC game to beat the low stakes.
Actually if I could go so far as to make a series suggestion, if any of the coaches were up for it, I personally as I am sure many others would, would find a video series of going through the stakes extremely useful. Maybe on a weekly thing like week one's video is $5/$10 games, week 2 $20/$30, etc etc. So those of us that are trying to work our way through can see how you guys made the adjustment at each level and how play tends to vary.
Anyway, that's my thoughts. When I signed up to the site originally I was just starting my $5 campaign and although I've been really busy and not playing as much as I'd like I am fairly comfortably rolled for $10 now, but I still feel like there's just a ton of standard situations that crop up where I am not entirely sure on the best course of action without extensive history with the villain and I'd really like to see how you approach it.
Thanks.
The major difference as you move up in stakes isn't the type of player but the quantity of bad players. You will face the same variety of players, but the player pool as a whole will be significantly better. We try to put up videos against every type of opponent because the type of opponent should be what is deciding your play - not the buy-in level. I think the vast majority of opponents in the videos tend to be randoms that we have played <5 games against (this at least is how it has worked out for me). I don't think that there is any sort of big metagame change that any of us are making against these guys.. we simply start out slow and adapt as we get a feel for how they are playing.
I think that these concepts against unknowns at high stakes carry over against unknowns at low stakes, but I think that many of the sites members feel disinterested in being shown how to beat a level that they are already beating. Thus, it seems practical to focus the videos on the higher stakes that are helping everyone compared to the lower stakes videos that are helping a smaller handful.
Of course, we will keep putting out videos from time to time to balance our content as best we can. I just don't think that the micros will become our main focus any time soon. I'll try to put out a low stakes video some time in the near future just to keep you happy though. :)
Note: Between Skates and I, we have 16 videos on this site from $5-$33 level.
Thanks for the replies, I didn't realise there were that many videos out on $5-$33 levels, and what you said makes sense xSCWx, i'd like to make one last request, make more leak finder videos of players at all levels. My favourite video on this site, having watched everything, is a primordialAA leakfinder video of someone that made some similar mistakes to myself and he was explaining why it's wrong and what he should be doing instead.
Seeing someone make a play and thinking oh that's pretty standard then hearing someone else say "no that's terrible never do it like that" tends to stick in my head more than seeing someone play a game almost flawlessly the whole way through.
That's a really great idea, I'd love to see some more leakfinder videos.
IMO these are really good to learn because people indeed make similar mistakes you're doing yourself, so you have to think about it.
I'd also gladly volunteer to play the guinea pig in such a video ;-)
