Hi.
I´ve been playing poker for 1 year, mostly CG but at the end HUSnG.
Without any knowledge I ended up even.
The last month I´ve been studying a whole lot of poker, especilly HUSnG.
Reading books, watched videos, read on forums etc.
But what happens now when I´m starting to play again, I can´t win shit!
Before i was pretty good at HUSnG i think. Won 7/10 played games at $10- $20 in general.
But now when i went down in levels, $2,5 - $5, to practice what I´ve learned it´s like impossible for me to win.
Is it normal? What am I doing wrong?
You should stick to your buy-in level to practise.
Maybe the players at the lower levels play in a different way and you can´t play your previous style. If you think you adapt good it could also be variance.
No i can´t for sure.
I´ve also played at $ 30 and $50 tables, only 10 games but won 9 of them, before i learned BRM, not a big sample i know. But i feelt more confident at that levels.
So you suggest to continue on and playing at the lower stakes and learn to master them?
Sounds like your total sample size is under 100 games. Poker is very swingy. You need at least 500 games to know how big your edge is.

Seems like you have a very small sample size, also you could be applying what your learning incorrectly. I've been there and still am a lot..the more I read the more I question and become confused for a while until it finally clicks.
I think that most of us have had both 0/10 streaks and 10/10 streaks while playing at or near our best. There isn't any way to avoid the variance - it sounds like you need to play a LOT more games and just keep studying.
"it sounds like you need to play a LOT more games and just keep studying."
Will do, thanks for the answers!!
Agreed put the volume in before analyzing your game too much.
I've played 450 games for a 16% ROI and I'm a fish lol
I'll be getting coached by Cog in the next couple of weeks me thinks.. :)
Keep in mind that you have to apply the strategies and moves you learn in videos at the right moment against the RIGHT type of villain.
Some of the strategies outlined in videos only work against thinking players, and not against droolers who only look at their own cards thinking "I has bottom pair, I call" ;)
I used to outlevel myself trying various moves (mostly bluffing) against villains who aren't thinking about straights/flushes on the board. That'll cost you money.
You play lowstakes, so my advice is simple: Bet if you have it, call/raise if you have it, fold if you don't! There's no need to bluff a lot (or at all, lol) unless you want to exploit a tight guy. Don't worry about balancing your ranges, they won't think about your range at all.
If you play stupid players, adapt :)

Ya I´ve noticed that there is no ide of bluffing or thinking at the lower levels.
I think It´s boring. Because I dont need to think that much it becomes really monoton and I find myself playing on autopilot.
But how should i practice the things I´ve learned then? At witch levels do u find thinking players?
Just feel out the villain in the first 10-15 hands. After that you should have and idea if he's paying attention to the board...or your possible hands. Pretty sure you find droolers up to higher stakes, just fewer of them ;)
