I probably wouldn't be pushing this unless I felt I was a lot worse than the opponent. You're about 52% to win here against top pair and when he calls he's pretty much always got an overpair,a J, a set or a good flush draw in my eyes. Sure you've got some fold equity but some people just won't fold top pair - which is all I can see him calling with at worst.
I had a similar situation recently and looking back on it I regret shoving - waiting around for a better opportunity would probably have been a better option.
Could be completely wrong but that's just my two cents - hope it helps!
Not the course I would take. You can stil call the flop and see the turn and re-evaluate his bet against your odds. Maybe you would have thought twice when the J pairs or he will be tricky and check and let you see a free card. It is still really early in this game. Just my opinion.
Wouldn't play it that way either.
Think about it: The only hands that'll call you, are good Jx hands (with a heart?), better flush draws, or sets..all of which have good equity against your hand. At best, you're a slight dog imo.
