That's just one person's opinion and it was written many months ago.
The heads up cash game limits go much higher, and it was extremely soft a year or so ago. This led to the best players of every type of poker (MTT, 6 max, sng, etc.) to develop their heads up games and ultimately led to a lot of fish busting at a quicker rate than usual.
This is just my opinion, but I believe many share it with me.
The current hu cash games are not dead, however. Many players don't want to adjust from "everybody is a fish" to "it takes awhile to find a fish." Those players suffer, because they refuse to play anybody but a huge fish. You hear things like "if a guy opens 3x his BB in the first hand, I just sit out." Many people refer to these players as "bumhunters" and believe they are very bad for the game. I tend to agree with these players, though I do not feel very strongly about it.
Anyways, hu cash is not dead, it's just not as soft as it once was, though at that time it was extremely soft.
Husngs are also not dead. The $550+ levels seem to be tougher than they were a few years ago, according to many regulars, but the best are still making a killing, and there are plenty of mediocre guys that are doing well too. Due to the skill level of players such as livb/adonis, skilled sox, bballer and several others, as well as their willingness to sit just about any player that enters the 1k+ buyin, those games are pretty much dead to anybody except the best players in the game. I don't see that as a problem, however, as they are the highest limits available online and it's only logical that the best players win at the highest levels.
I wouldn't worry about the games dying for awhile. I'd be much more worried if the average player were very intelligent and made great decisions in the game. This is not the case and probably will not be the case for awhile still.
So you don't think that the players have developed to much at the lower stakes? Here much about that the competition is to strong in poker to start and play now and try to make a profit of it.
Also, what advantages do you think HU-players have to 6-max CG and SnG players? Some people say that the HU player are better on reading bords and adopt to players, do you agree? I find it difficult to switch and play 6-max know because I rarely think OP have anything, which they seem to have more often, and that Im playing to aggressive witch works in HU, but not in 6-max where I often get action back.
I don't think HU dying out. It is right that the players especially in the mid stakes are now better than for 2 years. But that's the normal way. A few years ago it was the same in the 6 max games. The game will always change with new strategies and counterstrategies. Good players stay in the game and bad leave the game.
In my opinion HU is the ultimative way to play poker with very much action. In that case I think that in the future many more people will play HU cause of they are involved in every hand. Don't think that people only play poker to make money. There are a lot of more reasons like to have a good time or they are bored. For this people HU is very interesting while they are involved in every hand. So at least in the mid stakes there should be no problem in the future with many games and lot of non average players.
In the high stakes (I don't play there so I don't can say so much about this) it should be another thing. On the top is always only a place for the best. But the regs there including our teachers are made enough money. And even if players like skilled_sox will play nonwinning. He will has as supernova elite more rakeback than the most people earn in a year in theit normal job.
I think that HU will probably die out the slowest. The game play is more dependent upon your opponent then the other games so the game is less solvable in that sense.
