Hi guys ( any ladies here?? ;)),
just subsribed this month as a new year gift for myself. Ive been reading the forum and started to watch ( and make notes) of the first vids from the beginnerspack.
I read a lot about fellowsubscribers have tremendous succes in just a couple of months and just climbing up the stairs to the 100's. Well, i dont know about you guys, but watching the vids and thenplay took me a lot of effort. Im trying to implement the stuff from the vids and really am concentrating, it exhausted me.
How do you guys go through the vids and overload of information?
How do you guys get so great in just two months with the same info?
Im not new to poker but fairly virgin to hu sng ;)
please share your actionplan with me how to get to the 2000 dollar hu sng from the 5's with the information shared on this great site
I would break up your goals into a more realistic and short term way.
Going from $5s to 2ks even in one year is an incredible feat. Many players that make over 100k a year have never been able to stay in the 2k level games. There probably aren't more than a half dozen to a dozen players that can play 2k+ only and win money right now, the skill level at those buyins is just very high.
Reviewing videos and learning can be very time consuming and can take a lot of energy out of you. I would personally suggest a routine where you're putting in an hour or two every day to videos and studying. As you start to learn new things, make the adjustments in your game. The results should follow as long as you keep an even head and realize that improving is not a straight line up. You'll move a step forward, two steps back, then maybe a step forward and another back. Eventually, with many players, something "clicks." It's usually a combination of better play, untilted focus and a little positive variance, but you see a lot of guys go breakeven or slightly winning/losing for 1k-2k games then their graph just skyrockets.
Hi ryan,
thanks for your reply. Its a reality check and thats good. I was figurely speaking about going from 5 to 2000 dollar games. Its not even my ambition yet.
But i just read a lot of threads saying; im only here for two months the vids are great ( that is true) and now im crushing the limits, look at my graph.. Wauw!!!
If that is really the case, ofcourse im interested then. Im not lazy and know you have to work hard to go beyond mediocre. But asking your way up is free and there might be someone who wants to point you to right direction( in this case it is you, thanks a lot)
could some be more specific about the 2 hour homework?
By 2 hours, I would mean something like this (as an example):
Watching 2 videos = about 1 hour of time per day
Playing games for x hours
Reviewing HHs of games that you played = about 1 hour of time a day
So you'll be studying about 2 hrs per day on husngs, and that alone (plus a few hrs of playing) is going to give you a great chance of improving very quickly.
If you're watching 2 vids a day, assuming you bought a full month here at the initial price, it's $120, so you'll be doing about 60 vids in a month, or about $2 a vid or $4 a day in cost to work on your game. With the videos here you should easily learn over $4 in value about the game per day, some days you might find a huge leak in your game or really get some direction on how to think about concepts more clearly. Other days might just be renforcing what you know.
Regardless, I haven't really met a person that has not tilted and put in a lot of constant focus and effort into studying this game and not had at least modest success.
A lot of the people you see that have improved on this site likely did not even put 2hrs a day into studying + a few more hours into playing too. Some surely have, but I would guess many have done a lot less work.
Thanks again Ryan,
I think its really time consuming to answer al the threads personally (by yourself), but it is greatly appreciated and I think not only by me!!
I get your point of studying the game everyday and it is good to see the breakdown how to fill in the 2 hours efficiently.
So, playing x-amount of games doesn't really count as studying.
Is there a thread here (or on the 2+2) about how you should review your sessions or matches? Like, what you should look for etc?
Anyone can answer this question and please fill this thread with useful info for all the rookies here ;)
Playing x games should be the priority, I should've made that clear in my previous posts: I did not.
But besides playing, reviewing your play and watching videos to help add to your knowledge should be a great combination that leads to fast and high quality improvement.
