when people open shove the first hand of a match

hi

i have bin playing the 5.25$ on stars and sometimes people open shove the first hand

i think that people who do this realise that this looks relay spewy and do this with a wery good hands

and are hoping to get called with a more marginal hands.

what range would you be calling these shoves with ?

maybe its best to only call with jj+ AKo

and if they are this spewy then we would probebly find another good/better spot

yesterday i said to my selfe fuck it and maid a call with AJs and villian shoved up with QQ

but i wanted to know your opinion on this ?

i spiked an ace btw.

I hate calling with anything

I hate calling with anything but QQ+ on the first hand but I've seen so many people show up with Ax and low pp at the 5s and 10s. I'm pretty much snap calling 88+ and AQ+. They're generally weak players in my experience if they throw their stack in so early with no prior action. If you play a lot and might see this player again I'd make a note of it for future games.

I like Ace's comments. If

I like Ace's comments.

If you want the most accurate answer, just throw up HEM (or do this with friends and their HEM to get even more of a sample) and filter for 1 hand games (or just first hand shoves if you can) and find out what hands are shoving in this spot and at what % they are shoving.

Then it's simple because you have all the information you need to compare various hands against that range.  Just find out what edge you're comfortable taking on the first hand (probably shouldn't pass up on 54% tops) and everytime they do this you know exactly what hands to call with to have a 54% edge on that, you'll even probably know which hands give you which edge, so when you call with 99 you know you're getting your money in with "57%" on average (just made up the # to use as an example).
