I have been playing the 33 and 55 dollar games for a while now and have noticed that fish seem to fluctuate their 3 betting size based upon their hand. I do this some but its only against guys that I think will react in the wrong way or who arent paying attention. But these guys will 3b to like 150 over my raise to 75 at 15/30 or something like that and then another hand 3b to 500 over my same pfr. So i have a couple questions, the first being if their basically min raise is going to be overpairs and A10-AK then is it profitable to call with hands like 67s or K7s since my pot odds are so good but my implied odds are pretty bad? Also for a while I percieved the big raises as strong because they just wanted to get as much money in as possible with their good hands becuase they dont know how to play them postflop and their small raisies as weak because they think they should be 3betting 78s because they saw some guy pull it off on TV but aren't really sure what they should be doing. Obvioulsy not everyone fits into on category but has anyone else noticed what the small/big raises mean?So I guess my two questions are1. What do you guys think fish are 3betting small/big with in general? and.....2. if they are 3betting small with big pairs and big A's then what hands is it profitable to call with if any?Sorry this is just one big ramble, I really should clean it up but the my dinner will burn :(.
In my experience min 3bets from fish are very often not strong hands at all, you will be able to call their min 3bets because of the great odds most of the time.
I played someone who did this 3 times throughout a match the other day.. each time they showed A-x and was each 6 or lower. In the past, I have seen players also do it with A-x to "take charge" of the hand and that way they feel like they have the decision making on the flop. I think its a terrible play for several reasons:you're never getting a fold by any handyou're building a pot you are about to play out of positionyour raise does nothing to help you evaluate your players range (because no one is folding)you're playing a pretty weak hand that doesn't flop well, and can play very difficult at timesit can give you a false sense of strength when an ace flops in a 3bet pot On of the hands I played went like this: rr from 60-90, call. check call big bet on 9105 board with A4o, then check call a turn shove on 8. I showed them J8o and held up, then almost fell out of my chair. "There's no money HU, everyone's solid." obv.
