soz i got on the site today and noticed there hadnt been a new post since the last time i was on which seems to be a common occurance. I would love for there to be more traffic here since my main game is HU sngs and it seems like none of the other sites i use (deuces cracked and liquidpoker) have many HU sngs players. So i was thinking about why the forums dont get much action and i figure that it is just because there isnt much traffic there in the first place. Whats the point in makin a long post if you run the risk of not getting a an answer or not getting any significant conversation going? The other sites I use feel much more like a community(one is) and it seems more like people helping each other or putting their 2 cents in and having a discussion about it. Here it seems sometimes like people are just waiting for a coach to answer a question then that is it(although there are some vids that get some discussion going). And so the question becomes how do you get people to feel like they are more of a part of this site? And I was hoping that users could post vids and get a small amount of compensation for the time/effort it takes to record and commentate on it. That compensation could be a small amount of money based upon the number of downloads and feedback on it, or it could be a free month of subscription, or a monthly freeroll of like 500 bucks or something for everyone who posts a vid(this last one could also be done for a certain amount of quality posts in a month or somehting like that). I think that user generated content would foster a lot more discussion and would be pretty coolThis is just me hoping to get some more traffic on the forums because I posted a couple hands the other day on another site and was like wtf at some of the responses then realized they were FR nits. On a side note a better hand converter that is built into the forums would be cool because sometimes I think about posting a couple hands but decide not too cause it is too much work as opposed to other sites. I may be using it wrong but im pretty sure im not.
I'm glad this site is not SUPER active. There are enough regs sitting as it is..wouldn't want a bunch more.
would still be nice to have some more forum traffic no?
Hey,Forum participation should go up soon. We have hundreds of members monthly now, I have no idea why so few post or do not comment on videos.Nevertheless, I'm planning a tournament for the members in August that will include a lot of added prizes only available to those participating in the forums. That should be enough incentive to get anybody on the fence about posting out here and active.Beyond that, I have a few other ideas as well. How are Bluefire and Leggo's forums? CR is so large that even weak participation would have their forums rolling, and with DC's low price and free trial, they should have a nice community by now. It's not easy, but it's something we're starting to focus on, it wasn't our first priority in year 1, quality of videos and video makers were, but since we have a fairly stable lineup (though still always looking at new guys/guests/etc.) and a fairly stable site, it makes sense to try to built a nice community on the site.
i'm gameee it would be awesome to have a more active community
I think more traffic can only benefit the community in the long run. I don't post that much, mainly cuz i'm lazy! I tend to lurk, much like everyone else.As a bonus for me HUSNG.com is the only poker site my company hasn't blocked (yet!) so I can post at work too. J
I think that most users will revert to a lurk status, as is likely on most forums. With a small group (<1k) actually signed up to the site and a large portion of people having a natural tendancy to lurk, it isn't a big suprise that there isn't a great deal of activity. Also, a lack of activity is likely to increase a persons likelyhood to lurk or at the least check the forum at a lower frequency.Another point is that of this small subset of the poker population, it is very likely that most if not all of the members of this site are also members of another site like 2p2 that sees much more traffic and therefore (in my opinion) increases the likelyhood that a member would post there rather than here based on the likey volume of responses. Of course, if I had a HH that I wanted to get an opinion on I would likely bring it here as I think it would be more beneficial to me. Enough speculatory ramble from me though.
well if you think about it for a second, a HU online player plays probably the most anti-social form of poker out there, you're not face-to-face and dealing with the least possible amount of competitors/teammates.Some HU players are just introverts to begin with. You pretty much have to be because an extrovert could not deal with the hours upon hours of constant lack of social interaction.Others may feel the need to keep their secrets to themselves, I noticed when it comes to the greatest HU players (livb, bballer88 shortsharpshock, and even the legends of Isildur/Ivey/Dwan) no one has a clue as to the thought process of any of those guys or understand the reasoning behind some of the sick plays they make (until they actually explain themselves)? Poker at its roots is still very much dominated by an instinctive, individualistic interpretation of people's thoughts.I would enjoy a more vibrant community as it does feel like we are all on the same team though, and it would help bring new perspective building on the ideas that the videos have shown.
