Blinds 15-30Hero:2200 Villain:800 Im facing a vilian that is raising close to 100% of his buttons... At this point in the match he has made a lot of hero calls that have cost him a lot of chips so he may be frustrated. He minraises to 60, I shove A8o over the top of it and he instacalls with AQ. Is this the optimal play? I have asked other people and some say flatting is best, some say 3bet/calling is best and some say shove is the best. Just trying see if my shove is correct or if I spewed 800 chips.
I forgot to mention later in the match he raise/folded 5 or 6 times in a row at around 18bb when I shoved over his minraise.
I can understand 3 betting to 160-200, but why shove 800 over a min raise with 27bb effective stacks? Aren't you only ever getting called by better Aces or decent pocket pairs, and folding out hands that you could get value out of? I see it as a very dangerous way to pick up his 60 chips. I would think 3 betting to something like 180 gives similar fold equity and still leaves you enough room to fold to him if he 4 bet shoves.
I agree with Monkeytilt, 3 betting to 170-180 range is good or a flat as well. 3bet shoving for ~26bb is too much with this hand. Depending on recent gameflow/tendencies/read on ranges will decide whether calling a 4 bet shove or folding is the best option. 3 betting smaller versus shoving (over raising) also gives them a chance to spew with weaker hands, whereas 3 bet shoving here no matter how crazy the villain is will almost always leave you in a spot where you are dominated if called.
