I'm not sure why you think that vilain is polarizing his ranges postflop (17:10 you said that you think he has a polarized range and you keep this idea later in the video). When we look back we can see that he checked down only hands that have no showdown value, checked/called 1 time with a weak draw (gutshot) without betting any other street and he checked/fold many hands. So to me it looks like this guys is merging his range a lot because he gave us action on all others hands. The only thing that can make me possibly think that he's polarize it's if he knows how I perceive him and if he knows how it should make me play. In this case he should bluff many hands and begin to have somes polarizes ranges to make my thought wrong. But why do you think vilain is able to make somes kinds of leveling stuffs? To me he doesn't looks too good so I don't really think that he's trying these kind of stuff. (Sorry if my thought are not clear or if I just didn't clearly understood what you said because my english is really not perfect.)
Sorry I watched the video 2 times and I thought you keep this idea later in the video but you don't. But still I don't understand why you say that you think he's polarized on this hand (he limped and Q85 flop comes).
I would guess in that specific hand, if villain is betting that Skates thinks his range is polarized between bluffs and strong hands. This doesn't mean it's weighted towards bluffs enough to be a major part of his range, but it would mean that it is unlikely to be medium or weak made hands, meaning strong hands and possibly bluffs are candidates for his range, even if we have not seen the player bluff yet.If that doesn't make sense, I'll have him take a look at the spot specifically, but from reading your posts that's what really struck me as most likely.
But why does he think that he is betting a polarizing range? I mean I know what polarized and merged mean but what I don't understand it's only why he thinks that he is polarized on that spot. For myself I'm not sure that we can take out of his range 8x, Qx, 5x or draws like 67. Plus even if he decides to turn into a bluff gutshots he still has 2 overs on us and our line may looks weak (and we are weak so we may be face up if our opponent are able to see it).
He's on vacation for the next 6-7 days, so I'll make sure I ask him when he gets back.
