AK preflop oop

I played 22$ heads up tournament on PS. We only played 12 hands so opponent is unknown I didn't make any 3bets before and he raised so far more than 80% of his buttons.Seat 1: Hero (950 in chips) Seat 2: Thiffy (2050 in chips) Thiffy: posts small blind 15Hero: posts big blind 30*** HOLE CARDS ***Dealt to Hero [Kh Ac]Thiffy: raises 60 to 90Hero: raises 160 to 250Thiffy: calls 160*** FLOP *** [3h Th Js]Hero: bets 270Thiffy: raises 270 to 540Hero: raises 160 to 700 and is all-inThiffy: calls 160*** TURN *** [3h Th Js] [2s]*** RIVER *** [3h Th Js 2s] [3d]*** SHOW DOWN ***Hero: shows [Kh Ac] (a pair of Threes)Thiffy: shows [Tc Kd] (two pair, Tens and Threes)Thiffy collected 1900 from potHero finished the tournament in 119th placeAs you can see I committed myself with this cbet so i had to call his reraise. My question is what is in your opinion best play preflop in such situations. I think that this is probably worst play because I'm always committed after cbet. But somehow I think for showing I'm too deep but imo its probably better play than this one. So what left me in the end is only calling??? I would like to know what others would say on this. Thanks

I see a lot of the

I see a lot of the instructors advocate making a somewhat larger 3B in this spot so that you can shove any flop for a pot-sized bet. In this way, you may get him to either reshove over you with a weaker hand or call preflop and fold the flop when he misses. So if you raise to about 320 chips (about 3.5x his bet size, which seems reasonable OOP), you will have 630 behind in a pot of 640 and can shove any flop. If your opponent does not start with a paired hand, then he will be about 2-to-1 against flopping a pair and be in a tough spot on the flop. If he started with a small or medium pocket pair, the board may look super-scary to him and he may fold his equity share. If you are called on the flop, you probably do have some outs.

By the way, try out the Hand

By the way, try out the Hand Converter in the "Free" section under "Tools". If you have troubles with the hand not formatting correctly, there is a drop-down box where you may need to change to "HTML/CSS". It should then format correctly.

Yes, I had exactly the same

Yes, I had exactly the same problem over and over again until Ryan got with me and he discovered the problem. many members have had this problem and need to be informed of the "HTML/CSS" option.

To the Hand. With AK-type

To the Hand. With AK-type hands i recommend to Go and Go. This means you 3Bet to a size about 1/3 of your stack so you can push any Flop and the opponent is more likely to shove pre with a dominated Hand. Like explained before.I think in many Videos u can see people talk about several moves in the Endgame. Or else you could have a look at the 2+2 Forum where the basic strategies are mentioned, just if you want to add some lines to your Endgame...

Thebird, how often do you

Thebird, how often do you find opponents flatting your 1/3 of stack 3bet?

You can find them doing that

You can find them doing that way to often and it is just fund seeing them doing it over and over again and then snapfolding any Flop. So believe me to Go and Go is the best thing against fishy players.

I think i agree with the

I think i agree with the others, that like a 1/3 stack 3-bet could help you over this problem. But given you have already made this 3-bet and created some awkward stack sizes another option could be to check. If villain then goes all in i fold, as he most likely hit a pair or something that he wants to protect. But if he tries to steal the pot with a 1/2 sisez pot bet, you go all in, I think he will be bluffing a decent amount and also weak pairs could even fold and youll have decent equity against any pair he has.
