7th hand against an unknown player at 10+0.50 level. Before this he had limped 2 buttons and raised one. The hands he limped he either minbet the flop or the turn and took down the pot. The hand before this he had min donk bet bottom pair against me and called my raise on dry flop.Am I overplaying my hand on the turn? Should I be more worried on the turn based on the fact that he had just min stabbed 2 pots earlier and now he's potting? Especially considering the previous hand where he showed he bets weak with weak hands. I find that most players that have a limping and min raising range, will almost always raise aces. So its hard to put him on Ax, although i could obv still be in his range. Its hard to put him on Tx since you have a T. The board isnt especially drawy but maybe a hand like KJ or some low pocket pairs, although he would probably have raise pocket pairs too preflop. On the turn he bets pot which he hasnt done before.. looks like a protecting bet of some sort of thin value more than a value bet to me. or maybe even just a bluff. I think a check call here could be good to keep his air + weak made hands in his range.Given that you c-raise the turn, and he calls its a tough spot on the river cause his range look a whole lot stronger now, but if he had two pairs on the turn wouldnt he be raising your raise?? The river card is K which could be in his range, stacks are set-up perfect so a shove could be most optimal here but of course its hard to see what he is having that have beat given he called a c raise on the turn, which shows some of strength. I just hate to check-fold or check-call here, so i would def shove the river.
I really do like your line here. You check the flop because he's shown aggressive characteristics and you have a decent hand, albeit one that does not necessarily want to play a huge pot without there being lots of bluffs in your opponent's range (therefore allowing there to be when you check call as opposed to leading and possibly facing a raise). Then you check raise the turn to take advantage of his aggression and build a larger pot. The river isn't a beautiful card or anything, but it's still one I'd shove on, you should get value from some single pairs still, particularly vs an unknown that has been on the looser or more aggressive side. It sucks when they limped AK here or something, but you'll see a lot more single pair Ax than two pair Ax or sets. Also you mention that he called a raise with bottom pair before, so a loose call by your opponent here is very realistic, I wouldn't be surprised to see JT or something here make a call to be honest.A lot of times when you get worried or are unsure of spots like these, don't think about what YOU would do or what is correct for your opponent to do, think about what you regularly see people show up with here. If your games are anything like the ones I see many of my students and members on the site play in, you'll see plenty of weaker stuff call your river shove for it to be a nice value bet.Well played.
