Hey all, I'm working on a few concept videos and have two topics already...1) Bluff-Catching2) Playing a maniacI am looking at possibly making this a three part (or more) series and would like some thoughts or ideas from you on what you think may make for some good suggestions. I also know another coach is making some concept videos so the more the better. As long as RyPac is good with them, I'll prob do them in January.Gogogogo!
i would like to see a video about playing in limped pots. i think that we sometimes forget about these small pots and often i find it hard to play marginal draws or pairs. or i stab flop from the BB and dont know what turns/rivers are good to barrel
Slowplaying for sure. When to slowplay/when not to, what boards, what opponents, etc... Also, how to spot a villains slowplay. I really struggle with this sometimes. I LOVE hearing that there are going to be some concept videos coming out.
I don't agree that we need slowplaying video, because slowplaying by itself doesn't make the biggest possible value that you can get from a good hand, but I do think that is profitable to use it versus some opponents (maniacs and not all of them). My suggestion would be: How to play limped pots, barelling, donk betting, how to play bluff catchers...that's all I can think of now.
System, I'm kind of surprised that you make it seem like slowplaying isn't good enough to make a concept video on. It doesn't necessarily have to cover how to slowplay yourself either, it can cover how to spot slowplays (which happen all the time at lower stakes by retard villains). I'm sure that dealing with higher level thinking players, slowplaying becomes very effective, no?I think delayed cbetting could also be covered within a slowplaying concept video. Delayed cbetting is something I almost NEVER hear about and is probably a fairly fresh concept to most beginning husng players. If it's not anything that anyone feels is important enough to make a concept video on, then we could at least benefit from an article or a good thread about it.While getting less than 3 streets of value can suck, on the right board textures and the right villains, trapping and delayed cbetting can certainly have some very profitable results and should be a part of any experienced husng player's strategies. To the Coaches at HUSNG.COM:I recently made a thread on suggesting making more concept videos but I might have posted it in the wrong forum.I'd like to see:1.) Betsizing Standard cbet sizing on the flop is very well covered already but what about turns and rivers? The only real information I ever see is often just the instructor saying "I'd bet somewhere around XXX" on this turn or river, but I haven't really seen any information where we get to learn a framework for what to bet on future streets for what we want. I'm not experienced enough to know, but I'm guessing that bet sizing is probably something that still has a lot of uncovered territory in poker because it's so psychological and situation dependent. This concept can also include blocker bets and bluff inducers. Kind of an interesting example, I worked at wal-mart when I was in high school and there were certain prices that walmart would not allow items to be priced at because they had spent $$$$ on research about what prices would look more attractive. I know that .99 was one that would never be allowed because it didn't look as "inexpensive". I'm sure alot of this number psychology can be applied to bet sizing. 2.) Ranges and Handreading It would be completely awesome to have a concept video totally devoted on hand reading and narrowing ranges. I don't think any of us would mind even if the hands for examples were made up. We need some kind of linear example of how top-notch players think and narrow ranges down by street. Gauging your equity based on their ranges should be probably be something included as well, but could be a whole other concept video on it's own.3.) Basic Poker Math So many people struggle with this and if there was a good concept video on pot odds, equity estimating during play, etc... it would make beginning players super happy I'm sure. I remember first learning pot odds and equity, and getting swamped with information that was WAY too overwhelming. I spent days memorizing odds charts and pokerstove percentages only to eventually learn how easy it was if only someone had made an article or video explaining it without cumbersome math that's not needed for basic comprehension. Also, simplified explanations of implied odds and fold equity would be awesome because these are concepts that get WAY too complex for most beginners when it doesn't really need to. Someone needs to put these concepts into very simple words and explanations.4.) Pot control Managing the pot size could be a great video to see made especially after other concepts have been made such as range estimating, betsizing and knowing if you have strong equity to complete a draw. Now that a player is able to tell if he's in good shape for hitting a straight or a flush and able to estimate his opponent on TPTK type hands, I think many of us could benefit from knowing how to build the pot so we get paid off big but not bloat it so that we don't get killed if it misses. Situations like that come up so often but again, there's not much out there for the framework of how to handle them. If people can't estimate their equity or odds of calling with a draw, how can they know how to maximize their payoff or minimize their losses? I'm VERY familiar with concept videos because I've been doing card sleight of hand since I was 13 (I'm 29 now) and the only way you can learn the good stuff is through pricey concept videos that are very focused and well demonstrated in controlled and live environments. You can pay like $60 for a video focusing on one sleight, master it in a month or so and then use that one concept in almost infinite ways when those situtations come up. It's the same sh*t that would work in poker, I'm sure of this. I'm not sure what the other video instruction sites have, but I doubt that they have any kind of structure like I think you guys are headed towards if you do produce these focused concept videos. If you have some kind concept series of say 10+ topics that have powerpoint and hand examples, I'm positive that it would allow any level of players to learn faster and easier. Then we can watch recorded sessions and immediately know where to apply each concept, rather than learning it in reverse (which is kind of how it is now). Hopefully these videos will have some cool names too. I might be going crazy here but I would get excited as #$!@ if I saw videos named like these: "Equity on the fly: installing pokerstove into your brain in 15 minutes""The Streets Ahead" (which Rypac said he liked)"Size 'em up: making your bets do the work for you""Basic Hand-Reading: A range isn't strange anymore""Setting mouse traps, bear traps, and avoid getting trapped" Sorry for this long post, I'm done now.
3-betting and how to play in reraised pots:* what to do if you miss - cbet, fire 2nd barrel at the turn, etc.* playing back at opponents who 3-bet too much
I will also be making some concept vids so thx brent for opening thread ;)

+1 for the 3 bet videoplus i really like the concept videos, I learn wayyyyyy more from them than just watching sweat sessions on thier own
I like to see some more vids about handreading, and reading players. basic stuff and some extra stuff. Even I would like to see something about the mid en endgame, when i see myself I do lose alot money there.
I am just tinkled pink on hearing about concept videos. This is great news for someone like me. In my not so humble opinion this is the way it should be: learn the concept first, (power point presentation) then watch it demonstrated in a hand replayer. After that watching live videos will make a lot more sense for those of us who are new to Heads Up Sit and Go. This news is getting me very excited.I would just love to listen to Mersenneary doing power point presentations explaining theory and concepts.Just to add to the list of suggestions, Concepts on playing drawing hands in and out of position. In Limped, raised and three bet pots. Now I am really, really, really glad I re-subscribed.I think other sites are about to lose their members who are new to playing HUSnG.PaulIB_FishingThanking Santa for the gift Brent and other HUSNG instructors are giving me in 2011
I messaged RyPac to see if I can reserve Hand Ranges and Bet Sizing. I think both are very important aspects and not discussed often enough. Great discussion all, keep it going!

I like the drawing hands idea, I think I'll reserve that one.

I know I am just dreaming, but would love to see this turn into an introductory course in HUSnG! PaulIB_FishingConcept Video Supporter
I would love to see videos on playing maniacs and hand ranges
Those will be the first two coming up Bunnie.. looking forward to your feedback on them.

I'm glad to see that there are going to be more of these kinds of videos. Live play and replayer videos are helpful, but I feel that the videos that explain the reasoning and math behind winning play are what really help me improve. I recently upgraded to a premium membership and as soon as I watched the Mersenary endgame powerpoint videos, I knew it was money well spent. I know it is a lot harder (and more costly) to produce these kinds of videos, but I'd love to see more of them.Hand Ranges and Drawing Hands both sound good, especially as an exploration of the math and frequencies involved.
mjw006 just finished up his first concept video on playing against donk bets, and I am working on bluff catching as we speak.. stay tuned!

I agree with Jack and would like to see vids on playing against people who are 3-betting alot and how to play back at them.
Maybe also a idea when you review youre hands where we must take notice off, and other things how to find leaks in our one game(like the big leaks) Dont know of this is kind of tough to make but I know I have some problems in my game but I just seem to get it fix, when I tighten up I give it also up on the turn or river .When I am to aggro I am going to call of lighter.
more videos on general mindsed and psychology , I watched the tilt control / improve focus videos , they are good but they reminded me that this is my nr1 problem , and that half my losses are due to bad play on tilt and not having a productive mindset.
Thanks Pokerfun. I like that idea and have been thinking about that for awhile.I'm not sure who is best to make that video though. It needs to be somebody with some experience as well as somebody who is interested in studying a bit about emotional control and management.
Would love to see a video on donking ourselves.
Maybe a vid about the strengths / weaknesses of HUDS.
Some kind of transitioning of never using HUD into using HUD.
I once used one but threw it away as it hurted me more then not.
Currently, after 4k or more husng I am more and more convinced that I can add 1% to my ROI if I would be able to use it correctly.
On the other hand; this is severely correlated with for which stats you want to look automatically and how you want to color it so you know by default how you gonne change your play.
So maybe something about convergency of stats, how easy you mess the stats up with board texture, how easy you can mess the stats up with modifying your play, how a change of play is quickly discovered in HUD, which are commonly spreads misinterpretations of hud stats.
Just thinking ...
Adjustments to make against certains tendencies and in depth explation of why this is a good idea, was watching one of rypac's old leakfinders yesterday and after hearing him explain why doing a certain thing in depth i found i understood it a lot better.i know this is something that is talked about on a lot of the leakfinders tho it would be nice to have it all in one video
I actually have a video like this planned very soon from a student that came to me with some ideas and we discussed it and it made sense to make this into a video for the site. He should have some hand examples to go along with what he wanted done later this week, then I will record the video.
I'd like to see a concept video on strategies to combact habitual check/raisers.I'm talking about Loose Villians who call wide, then check raise a varierty of flops.. into our unpaired hand. Low boards. Dry boards. Ace High boards. Wet boards. If you call, they barrel the turn. If you check back, they lead the turn. It's easy to see what they are doing with their betsizing with a STRONG hand...What if you can't make TP+? When you're getting run over...How... or when do you start making plays or marginal calls?
In my aggro leakfinder series I review matches played against several aggressive players that are similar to what you describe. You might want to check that out.Regardless, it would make a good concept video.Skates board texture videos may also have some hands like this in them.
Firing a 2nd barrel ,what board textures and the reasons behind doing it
Although this is not really a concept video and maybe just some indications towards 'interview ideas'; I would like to see material appearing where a little more is focused on the mental side/attitude towards of the game.
i.e. mjw006 talking about a little deeper how " his focus on constant learning" influenced his grow as a player and such a video where some coaches just talk about how the constant learning influenced there game
i.e. Mersenneary with his math degree and being a teacher and how this influenced his game
i.e. how our coaches prepare for their grind
i.e. how our coaches see the importance of forum posting, poker buddies
i.e. how our coaches define A-game / B-game
i.e. how our coaches handle fatigue, tilt, ...
i.e. which attitudes really made a difference for them
You can go alot of directions with these topics:
- a vid once a month about 1 topic where several coaches give 5 a 10' their opinion
- interview ideas for news section
- article ideas that are free, only reachable in payed content
- chat session where transcript is posted from
- just a thread once a month
- ...

Is a good example of what I mean.
has the playing a maniac vid been done? i would definitely like to see that?i have played one of these seemingly illogical players yesterday. i am really confused what is optimal strategy against these wild beasts.
