I've played a few loose players recently who would Call (70%) or 3-bet (20%) my preflop raises when I'm on the button.I'm trying to figure out how to deal with this type of player. I don't want to just call from the BB, so I lowered my opening bet to 2X, just to try to keep the pot small when the villian did 3-bet. This didn't work as villans 3-bet became more common and bigger. It was like a catch 22. If I min-raise villian 3-bets me more, if I raise 3X villan is less likely to 3-bet, but when he does I'm often having to fold. I kept thinking the best strategy here is to 4-bet shove selectively with something like AQ+.Villian is also aggressive after the flop, but just enough to make every dicision difficult.Any suggestions on how to deal with this?
Tighten up your open raising range a little bit, minraise rather than limp or 3x raise and open up your 3-bet call and 4-bet ranges (doesn't mean you need to be loose, just make sure you're calling and 4betting with more hands than versus a tighter opponent and that is a good start).Postflop aggression is really hard to talk about generally, but always keep in mind that against players that are more loose and aggressive on early streets, you will find that they get to later streets on the turn and especially river with a wider, and thus weaker range of hands (often in larger pots). Unless they turn into calling stations, this means you have to use more aggression on later streets because they often cannot handle frequent bets and raises with their wider (and thus weaker) range of hands they play preflop, on the flop and onward. You might find my aggressive husng leakfinder series particularly helpful. It's available to standard members. You can also check out our video learning guide, specifically the section that suggests videos against aggressive opponents. You should find all the concepts and examples you need to really have a better handle on these types of opponents.
