Villain minraises like me very often, c-bets also. Means I am going defend lighter, and by my means j8o is fine this deep. But then sometimes I come into this spots where I can just scratch my head and ask myself afterwards where it all started to get wrong.Even now I don't know if I should raise the flop (sometimes I do, but can't exactly define why I did not this time), or flat him as I did and then fold on the turn.On the turn I called because this would be exactly the card I myself would need to second barrell if I played his hand. On the river I could not see him bluffing, but should I call the same amount if the river is a brick? $10.00/$20.00 No Limit Holdem • 2 Players Hand converted by the official HUSNG.com hand converter BBHero$1460.00 BTNSaintBaBBa$1540.00 Effective Stacks: 73bb Pre-Flop ($30.00, 2 players) Hero is BB SaintBaBBa raises to $40.00, Hero calls $20.00 Flop ($80.00, 2 players) Hero checks, SaintBaBBa bets $60.00, Hero calls $60.00 Turn ($200.00, 2 players) Hero checks, SaintBaBBa bets $140.00, Hero calls $140.00 River ($480.00, 2 players) Hero checks, SaintBaBBa bets $300.00, Hero folds Final Pot: $780.00
Since he Cbet's alot i think you could C/r the flop to 180 maybe 220.i'd lead the turn since i'm not folding to a bet here so id prefer to be the agressor here because as you this is a good card to 2nd barrel on. btw you if you his hand what hand are you putting him on ?River: pretty hard spot, we are looking pretty weak by c/calling and checking to to him. i'd actually consider betting here instead of checking given how the hand have played out you could rep a str8 here. think i'm folding here so many two pair Kx, str8, some better jacks , and i don't he'd keep betting a 9 or a 6 here unless you've called a lot of his cbet's
Happy what you've posted makes very little sense, if he cbets a wide range and is aggro then we don't want to c/r, we want to continue to let him be the aggressor as it is +EV to bluffcatch vs him and if we c/r we very often isolate a very small part of his range(alot of wihch beats us). On the turn because it is such a great 2nd barrel card why would you donk? If you don't intend to fold to a bet and the villain is aggro on a good card to barrel off on then i believe c/c is better than donk betting( why are you donk/betting here, what are you valuebetting against?) OTR i dont think we need to turn our hand into a bluff. OP i think you played the hand fine, interested to hear others thoughts.
@theoneyedman i see your points and they make a lot of sense compared to what i wriote think i got cought up in trying to put actually win the hand before the river because i knew what it already was, thanks for your input
Hey,I don’t think c-betting does mean aggro. I think a lot of people are going to c-bet then shot down if you call and they don’t hit the turn. So in my opinion, sometimes it is better to raise to get value from second/third pair, overs, draws…However, here I agree with you. I would flat call this flop since it is very dry. Calling seem weaker and can induce some bluffs (like you said) on the turn if the right card come.On the turn, the king is a nice card to barrel so I would expect villain to bet this turn no matter what card he is holding. I would definitely call.I would bet (200) – fold this river. Why? Here, I think we may have the best hand a fair amount of the time but not so comfortable to call a big bet (350-400 ish). If the opponent raises us, I would feel we are certainly beat. I don’t expect him to raise with air. If he raises, I expect him to have a better Jack, a straight or, some time a king or 2 pair. So, I think a blocking bet of around 200 could buy us a cheap river and help us decide if we are good or not. Always take my answer with a grain of salt.
I think I agree with bonafontz here given that the river is a wet T. So c/c flop + turn and then bet river to get a honest response. I would probably bet half pot (240) though so we dont look to weak.If however the river is a complete brick like a 2 I think we def have to check-call here given that we called the turn K and let him give the chance to 3 barrel and not fold the weak part of his range out by leading the river.
Thank you all very much!I really appreciate your input!
Meh, think you played the hand well, i would play it the same. Has villain been barreling often?
The hand looks good mate. I play it the same...
