Hey, im just asking here to try and gauge if anyone would be interested in working on some form of a study group. Basicaly a group of people that are there to work on their games, discuss stratergy and maybe sweat each other once in awhile.I personaly think it would be a good motivational tool for the people involved and would also be a great way to get better as a player. I dont think skill level should be something that matters in the group, however drive and the want to get better is the most important thing. Im personaly only playing the micros currently but im working on my game as much as i can and playing alot of hours whenever possible.Would love to hear other peoples opinions on this.Thanks,-Martin
I'd be interested in something like this if you get it going. I just switched to the turbos and play mainly $20, $11 & $6 but expect to move up soon. I'm in the process of putting my game back together, with lots of help from this site & coaching. Anyway, if you get some interest, let me know and i'm on board. Steve
Greetings Martin,I think your study group idea is fabulous. In the past (14 mos ago) I've interacted with several HUSNG'ers. One of my favorite activities was making and exchanging videos for analysis. There are other possibilities as well. Just having poker discussions over Skype was a worthwhile activity. I found one poster who I really connected with and we really helped each other improve our games. I'm all for interacting with fellow students and think it's a cost efficient means of improving ones game and getting to know other members of the online poker community. I'm also interested in sweating other players and creating some sort of a feedback loop. Take care, Jeffrey (who just re-activated his Skye)
@ Everyone in this thread...Count me in for a study partner. I recently put a post on 2p2, but it's been slow linking up with fellow HUSNGers. I currently play the $10 reg speeds, looking to improve and move up.I'd be most interested in video + audio interaction. Stuff like sweat sessions or HH reviews utilizing a replayer. Skype has this feature, but I prefer Mikogo. It looks better and up to 10 people can share a screen. I also like Jeffrey's idea of exchanging videos. I'm set up with Camtasia, so that would be no problem.
I would also like to be part of a study group or find someone to talk strategies with I have transacted from cash games to heads up sngs. In cash game I played 6max shallow stack 2/4-10/20 full time time now started to play $55 turbos on FTP i have a ton of willpower to improve and want to be the best :)
I play the 6$s, well i am moving to the 11$s turbos right now on FTP. I use to play a lot a year and a half or 2 years ago and am just getting back into playing and studying some to improve. I would be up for discussions/sweat over skype. SN Neonwired
Ok, there seems to be good interest in this so if everyone wants to pm me I'll put together an e-mail list and get this going. Please include some info about yourself, why you play, what you would like this group to accomplish etc.Don't forget to include your e-mail Steve
Anyone got MSN/AIM and wanna chat via that?I don't have a mic for skype.
Greetings Jakester,I wouldn't mind communicating in this fashion (at least until my ulnar nerve dysunction/brachial plexus injury acts up). If you play at Pstars we could still have a sweat session and do it VIA IMS. I don't currently use an instant messenger, but I wouldn't mind downloading one. That being said, I forced myself to buy a relatively inexpensive webcam that has more than suited my needs. The resolution was actually good enough to send Pokerstars a copy of my driver's license and other ID as they asked for a picture. The model I'm using is made by Creative, and I'm highly satisfied. It's the VFO415 and it does an awesome job in terms of audio quality. The website currently lists it at 49.99, but that is the retail price. I'm sure you could find one at Best Buy or some other retailer for about $35-$40. Alternatively, you could buy a used one on Ebay? Just an idea.Take care,Jeffrey
I might look into that in the future. I'm a decent typer, 60-100wpm, so it'll be good. If you make an MSN account, add me, I'm leagueandcars@hotmail.com, just tell me you're off HUSNG.com forums, and we'll do some sweats, maybe use the universal replayer to to do some HH reviews of each others games too.
Jake... If I were you, i'd invest in a mic. Any cheap headset will do. Some webcams even have a mic thrown in. You can get a USB mic for like...oh I don't know... $25. Then get Skype. And if you want hit me up. Talking allows MUCH faster interaction back and forth vs. Typing. It's worth it, mane
Greetings Jake,I'm still more than willing to correspond with you via IM. However, it will likely pose logistical challenges and undermine efficient communication. It's really not going to cost much to get a microphone, as BA Baracus just intimated. I know I suggested buying a Creative VFO315 webcam or some alternative, which should cost you about $40. But you really just need the microphone-and that should cost even less. All of this being said, I'm still ready and willing to share hand histories and engage in communications. But it could ultimately come to a crashing halt if my hands act up from past injury. There is one activity that we can engage in without a microphone right from the get-go, and that's exchanging hand histories for discussion--and we could bring the most difficult and contentious ones to the message board. But again, it would be such more easier and useful for you to have a mic as you could get input from all group members. And there will likely be group members who have more intelligent and savvy feedback to offer.Anyway, I'm done rambling. If you simply can't afford a microphone (or otherwise decide against purchasing one) we might start by exchanging hand histories. You can email me or I will email you if that's OK. Alternatively, we can watch each other play on Pstars and I will manually type in my hand as we play in a reg speed format (using an IM messenger in turbo format wouldn't work too well?). Then we can write up comments afterwards. But a microphone would make all of this much more efficient. Take care,Jeff
Ok, trying to finalize and move forward with this study group. If anyone else is interested just shoot me a pm or e-mail.
yea sorry ill write something about it later im just trying to get some uni work at the moment!
Greetings,I want to move thing forward as well as I'm ready to participate whenever member(s) have some free time. Unfortunately, I have to head off to work at my part-time job, but I'll be back on later tonight and will be available tomorrow (and this weekend). Perhaps somebody can throw out some tentative time and see how it fits in with others schedules? Thanks,Jeffrey
