This idea is not to see as rival to the study group in this forum section, but as an complement OR an alternative for guys like me, who would like to have a study group, but don't want to instant message to much during play. I just want a few fellows having my aim, because I learned in time that it distracts me. Even if I didn't want to IM, I found myself always looking for who is online and if he is playing, and basically losing time very ineffective. The idea surrounding me is:- First prerequisite is the universal replayer to review tournaments- Once a week (let's say every monday), members who want to participate send me the hand history of one HUSNG played, I will put it on a server to download (maybe someone can give me advice what the best place to upload is)- Every hand history will be drawn to two players from the pool, who will review and post all their comments about specific hands in the Hand History Section. Of course if someone is willing to review more than one history, he is free to do so- Basically the idea is designed for 6$ - 21$ turbos or 5$ - 20$ regulars. If there is interest in other limits we can make another section- Whoever wants to participate pm me their e-mail adress, limits they play, a healthy self-assessment etc. Please post here any other ideas how we could make this work. If there is interst I would like to start as soon as next monday. ps: Please forgive me for my grammer and orthography and feel free to correct my errors
Very good points about efficiency and time management. That's the one major drawback of a study group/group chat, that a lot of time is often wasted.I was going to make a blog post about this, but I found that I did not have enough insight to warrant the blog post (after spending 20 minutes typing up a few paragraphs I found myself getting very repetitive and not offering much in the way of unique or valuable advice). The only thing I would suggest is to consider using a separate name for poker studying, signing onto it only when you want to study, sticking to "lets look at this hand" rather than "how was your day, oh you went to a restaurant, what kind, oh you like steak too, so do I, what's your favorite cut of meat, ah me too" chat which easily leads to distractions and inefficient use of time.I don't mean to sound hard on building relationships, I've certainly met some very good people and people I expect to consider good friends many years down the road from this game, but if you are all about studying you really want to keep focused during that time.
This sounds like a great ideal for me. I am very interested in doing this. Sent you a message.PaulIB_FishingInterested in Improving and helping others Improve
