5,687$7 $56 12%$39,798 Hot92 So I decide to play some $10 deepstacks instead of my usual $5 normal speeds, and in my 2nd match I draw this guy... great. I talked to him a bit, said nice ROI etc and chatted about stuff, he tells me he's busto and rebuilding his roll.Match starts pretty well for me, no real major pots but I pick up a few and start whittling down his chip stack. He is playing pretty loose IP and very tight OOP, and has 3bet me 20% of hands with 4.5x my sizing eg I bet 100 at 20/40 and he 3bet to 440 (this works out to him 3betting me like 4 or 5 times since he plays so few hands from his bb). I have also been playing lag ip and tag oop. I only 4bet jammed him one time: Full Tilt Poker Game: $10 + $0.50 Heads Up Sit & GoSeat 1: The guy I was playing against in the HUSNG (2,285)Seat 2: BreezerD that's me (3,715)BreezerD posts the small blind of 20The guy I was playing against in the HUSNG posts the big blind of 40Dealt to BreezerD [Cards]BreezerD raises to 100The guy I was playing against in the HUSNG raises to 470BreezerD has 15 seconds left to actBreezerD raises to 3,715, and is all in so then about 15 hands later we get this: Full Tilt Poker Game: $10 + $0.50 Heads Up Sit & GoSeat 1: The guy I was playing against in the HUSNG (1,840)Seat 2: BreezerD (4,160)The guy I was playing against in the HUSNG posts the small blind of 25BreezerD posts the big blind of 50*** HOLE CARDS ***Dealt to BreezerD [8d 8c]The guy I was playing against in the HUSNG raises to 125BreezerD raises to 375The guy I was playing against in the HUSNG calls 250*** FLOP *** [6c 4s Tc]BreezerD has 15 seconds left to act [because he is thinking about this sweet level]BreezerD bets 450The guy I was playing against in the HUSNG raises to 1,465, and is all inBreezerD snapcalls 1,015 because he's not all there upstairs Now this probably seems retarded at the $10 level so I'll see if I can explain myself.Villain is clearly a thinking player with those results. If he's sharkscoped me he sees me as a losing player who is basically a retard and hasn't even played many games above $5. From the match he assumes I am playing ABC poker, basically taking down some small pots occasionally but generally betting when I have the hand and folding when I don't, c-betting favourable boards and basically just doing all the stuff beginners are supposed to do.When I 3-bet him here my percieved range is quite wide - any PP, A9+, A5s+ and maybe KQ, KJs but pretty weighted towards the top of that range. When he flats here I think he can show up with any suited cards 10 and above, 66+, any strong ace or king, QJo, and possibly some suited connectors if he's feeling super crazy. When I bet here I don't think it changes my percieved range at all (which is why it's correct to cbet here), maybe he thinks I will trap with a set here but other than that it doesn't change... which makes it a perfect spot for him to jam. With anything he called me with preflop. The reason for this is that he views me as weak-tight due to the fact that he has no reason to believe that I've played back at him at a single point in the match. As such he believes that I can only call in this spot with AT, 2 overcards which are clubs, an overpair, or a set, and I'm only happy about doing it with an overpair or a set. Stove me against his PF calling range and we find out that based on his calling range this is a snap!....Right? Guys?
Bet/calling this flop is fine, there should be enough 6x/draws in his range to make up for the Tx that crushes you and checking plays much worse in letting him realize his equity with lots of hands.
I think you're strongly overexaggerating how strong his jamming range will be here. If he has 67s, clubs, straight draws, it's in his best interest to just ship it in with so little money behind. Hell, he could even be shipping in two overcards just cause this board misses your perceived 3betting range (which is why I wouldn't fold AQ here either). So yeah, don't sweat it imo.Side note: his 3bet size is so horrible, nice job 4bet jamming a few times even though you're pretty deep. you could even start 3xing with a tight range and 4bet jamming whenever he makes it 600 or something silly like that if he's actually going to 3bet/fold this size.
Check out my blog (Updated 4/10) and my coaching page!
Yeah, 3bet/folding to that size is categorically awful by your opponent :)
