Greetings,I downloaded all of Skates earliest videos and was unable to play them through my computer's Microsoft WMA or other players (such as Quicktime). I've had no issues with any other videos, including the one's Skates made AFTER he switched to the new format. I keep getting an error stating that my player doesn't support the codex. So I've tried downloading other players. I've tried using unzip me. I've tried just about everything and I'm frustrated as I've seen these videos in the past (when I had a membership back in 2009) and really enjoyed them. If you have any suggestions as to what kind of media player I should download it would be appreciated. I most recently tried the VLC media player without any luck. I'm running Windows 7.Thanks,Jeffrey
Sorry to hear this Jeffrey. Many users report that changing the audio channel to channel 2 or another channel has fixed the issues for them. They were able to play the video but the audio wasn't working I believe.Quicktime should play these though, do you have an updated quicktime?
Greetings Ryan,I discovered that I can play all of Skates videos (with the exception of his very first video) through my Windows Media Player. Of course, I can't hear anything and I don't think there is any possibility of playing through a different channel. I keep getting a message that "Network is too busy to play at original file quality." I've tried to go through all the preferences and options w/out any luck up to this point.I tried re-downloading Quicktime. That didn't work either as it didn't recognize the file type. At least I can watch the newer videos, which have the different format. Thanks,Jeffrey
This seems to be a rather unique situation. So you're not getting any sound even on newer Skates videos (which are .wmv format) with windows media player?I think it's quite possible there's an issue with your laptop.I'm notifying our webmaster of this thread now so he can read it and catch up and offer any insight.
Greetings Ryan, The problem was isolated to the first seven or so videos. I received no audio or picture from his very first video. On the next seven or so vids, I'd get the picture but not any sound. To be more clear, these videos were the ones with the 'psimalive' label rather than 'skates.' WMA rejects the first video as not having the right codex. I tried opening his vids in Quicktime and it said it was the wrong format. I've tried UNZIP and alternate player(s).I have absolutely no problem w/ his newer videos. Like every other HUSNG video, they work perfectly fine. It's not absolutely crucial that I get these vids, so I don't want to cause too much of a hassle. I have more than enough material to keep me occupied. Thanks for the feedback and help. Jeffrey
We'll try to figure out what's going on. I don't think we've had this issue reported in this way before, so it might save some time for other users. And even though it's only 7 videos, I think the quality of those 7 should more than justify any time we spend on this issue.I left a note for the webmaster, so he should be reporting back here in the next 48 hours with any additional insight.
I'm having the same issue aswell, i've sent an email already.Has there been any resolve for this issue?
Make sure you've tried quicktime and VLC media player. Make sure you've put "audio track 2" or an alternative audio track in the options if it doesn't work initially.
If that doesn't work, please list everything that you did by tomorrow if you possibly can, I'm meeting with the webmaster tomorrow and we can look at resolving this issue if that doesn't work for you. Sorry about the inconvenience.
i just tried the VLC player, it wont play either, i tried changing the audio options but i was unable too, i will try downloading quicktime.
Ok thanks. Let me know how quicktime goes, try it regularly and if it doesn't work try to play it with a different audio track (I think quicktime is where the audio track change has worked in the past).
i installed quicktime and this is the message that appears when trying to play the video" Error, couldn't open the file (skates vid) because it is not a file that wuicktime understands.i tried other videos that worked with WMP, and they didnt seem to work with quicktime either.
Ok, we'll try to resolve this tomorrow then. I'm sending you an email right now.
Hey Ryan,>> I found a solution with the VLC player. I followed your steps and > the seemed to work. You have to extract the zipped file then open > with the VLC player, and then change the audio track if necessary, > and that solved the problem.
