I have 2 suggestions for downloading and naming videos:1. Drop .zip format - in days of broadband it makes very little difference if you are downloading 36.8 Mb or 41.2 Mb file. Compression ratio for videos zipped is poor anyway and above 90%, so it just leaves hassle of unpacking and renaming these files.2. Introduce unifiied naming convention for each video. I'm sure you agree that xscwx_nonturbostars_2.zip is not much of a name.Instead you should have something like:YYYYMMDD_Coach's name_video Nr. #_full description.wmv naming convention introducedBy having YYYYMMDD at the start of the file videos are ordered chronologically, by having each contain coach's name you can easily filter them out and of course full description is what you want to have in place of meaningless and forgettable abbreviations. If I rename vidoes in such a format which I do I'm left of with lot of work and if I later download the .zip file I'm not sure if I already have that video or not.
Thanks for the suggestion. We may change the naming system moving forward, but we won't likely retroactively change the names, both because of the time required to do that (better spent making more videos, unless you all disagree, it's really up to you the members) and because many people already have the videos with the old names, so renaming might confuse their libraries.I do know when we started the site we had a naming restriction on length. I'm not sure why that was, it's just something the webmaster told us and we followed more or less. One other issue about the zip files is that we do sometimes have instructors using .mp4 and .mov formats. So the zip was a way to unify the download format, I believe it was to minimize downloading issues, not so much to save on bandwidth (which seems to cost nothing these days, as you suggest).
