Game selection on Stars?

HelloI play HUSNG for a year now on OnGame and IPoker and my plan is to move my main roll to Stars to play 60s and 100s. But before that I have a question 1. How does game selection work on Stars if there is only one spot to sit in? when I play I sit on empty seat and wait for weaker players and everybody knows that players who sit You are generally weaker than those who wait for a play 2. Is there any reason on Stars to wait until its empty and sit in? especially when You want to multitabling say 4 tables) 3. Or, You just sit everyone and play assuming (or knowing) that You are on average a better player than the field? I wander what You – regulars on Stars midstakes think about that and what is Your strategy in game selection (and Is there any) Best Regards Durgal

1) When good players sit

1) When good players sit first, generally other good players avoid them.  Sometimes you'll sit at the same time, but rather than "chopping" and hoping that they send back (you're burning some EV here if you do that with any winner, just on non send backs alone), just tell them you prefer to play the game out and wish them luck politely.  You won't end up in any ego wars if you resist the temptation to flame back if they flame you, and if you end up being a solid player you'll be known as "the guy to watch out for if he's registering and playing a session" and "I know if I sit the same time as that guy he won't chop with me."  This actually makes some winners at the buyin level more cautious when sitting in the lobby, and improves your organic game selection. The "avoiding good regs" thing doesn't really ever stop, but the definition of players worth avoiding narrows quite considerably when you get higher than $200.2) Totally depends on your edge against people you're sitting.3) Again, totally depends on your level of tilt control, our edge and how many better players you end up sitting this way (time of day you play etc.).  Too hard to answer without some samples and results probably.  If you are comfortable, confident and have a solid roll, try sitting anybody for a few sessions and see what types of players you end up facing.  Sharkscope all the players after you've finished your session and see what types of players you faced, compared their results with their perceived skill level.  A decent answer will likely stand out if you do this for a few days.  Remember, it'll all be subject to variance and perception, just try to take as objective of a look at it as you can and avoid statements like "these regs suck" or "lol this guy wins?"Of course, some players currently playing the Stars $60-100 buyin areas can probably chime in and give you an idea of what to expect a bit more specific than I am here, but you can also see for yourself rather quickly I think. Why did yo leave iPoker and OnGame?  Due to slower traffic at these buyins? If you have the roll, you might want to think about playing some $200s on Party Poker soon, the traffic will be slower but you'll get some nice high edge games in against poor players, and if you end up moving up the rake % reduction is quite favorable any higher than that.  But depending on your comfort and bankroll that might just be something to think about in the future, after a few solid months of profit.
