Hi there. I don´t know if this is the correct place to post this, but I have been watching some videos and reading some stuff and I still don´t know what some things really are, soo I came here to ask for some definitions because my google searches about this have been inefective. Soo, here are the (somewhat retarded I guess) questions:1 - What are some of the things you look for in the opponents? Do you write it on papper or just mental notes?2- What is a 3-bet shoving exacly (read about this but still couldn´t find a definition, soo I quite confused)?3- What is a flop stab?4- What is a double-barrel?5- Are there any resources that will teach me better post-flop play? I use the ranges Primo suggests on his HU from Scratch first video, but I really feel that sometimes I´m just playing like crap on the flop... Thanks in advance and kind regards. I know this may be stupid questions, but I really can´t find the answers on my own...
1. Most of poker rooms enable you to make notes of other players, that way its easy to access them. I note everything I find useful, from players ranges, to bet sizing/timing tells, ways they play certain hands, etc.2. 3-bet = when you are third player who raises the pot.Shove = going all-inSo 3bet shove would be when you are third player to raise the pot and you go all-in.Example: Preflop. Big blind is posted (therefore that player is first betting in a pot). Mid position player raises for 3 big blinds. Late position player goes all in. Therefore, late position player did a 3bet shove.Or you can have flop (or turn/river) situation. Player 1 bets. Player 2 raises. Player 1 goes all-in. So players 1's third action was 3bet shove.3. This is probably reffering to a donk bet. Its an action where you bet the flop without initiative. Usually, the last player who makes preflop raise is considered to have an initiative in hand, so if on flop, anyone who acts before him places a bet, that would be called a donkbet or stab.4. Betting two streets in a row. EDIT: There are some poker term dictionaries online. If you don't understand a term you can google for something like: poker term XXXXXXXX or poker dictionary XXXXXXXXX
Thanks a lot for the quick help buddy!Soo, is a donkbet necessarily donkish? I mean, what reasons would some player have to do that? Thanks in advance.
double post
Doesn't have to be donkish, though it probably got named that way because of its constant use by newbish players who don't understand some concepts of a game. But there are more reasons to donk bet. Most common reason is to induce bluff from aggressive players who often get annoyed by donkbet and can't resist but to raise over the top with weaker hand. Also, preventing villain from getting a free card on a flop is a good reason (if you can put him on a draw, or he checks back flop often). So, many reasons, but if you got the right one, donkbet isn't donkish at all. :)EDIT: When weaker player donk bets (im talking about fullring games here), he usually represents top pair weak kicker, or some mid pair he/she flopped.
Thanks for the reply nekro!
