I've ran into 2 differant players that believe the answer is opposite to what I believe.Relatively straight forward question: Do you calculate effective stacks before or after blinds are paid?For example, if you start out the hand at 20bb each before blinds are paid, are you effective stacks 20bb or 19bb?I'd find it amusing if I've been doing it wrong for all this time lol.
Before the blinds are posted.I think there are some equations where you won't use the blinds, but generally when referring to things like NASH or effective stacks, it's before blinds are posted.
Tricky question tough. Generally Ryan is right, but, if i remember correctly when you are talking about SAGE, you do need to calculate effective stack size AFTER the blind is taken. Please correct me if i am wrong.

I think you're right on the SAGE comment. I was actually trying to remember if SAGE was one of the exceptions or not when writing the post, but since we hardly ever use it these days, I abandoned that thought rather quickly.
