Maybe getting more value from

Maybe getting more value from good hands vs fish who won't notice? I find it hard to beleive that happens at their buyin level though. One of my Skype buddies opens to 2.25 pre, and all he could tell me was "someone told me to do this"

H2Olga discussed this in his Well on 2p2 a bit I believe. In short, I believe the major advantage is that the typical regular opponent isn't likely to know how to adapt to that raise size as well as they are vs a 2x size (as far as call %, 3bet %). It may also have some stack size advantages.

I have thought about that

I have thought about that move and I honestly don't see any advantages. With this move Skai is raising almost the maximum possible preflop without reaching the commitment threshold. Some may claim that it protects against light 3-bettors since it costs them a few chips more to 3 bet.  Also it lowers the stack to pot ratio but I don't see any advantage here.  Stacks are already shallow so you are not going to face difficult decisions often and I think you want maximum maneuverability so a high SPR could be better.  If you want to fire 3 barrels including a river bluff you want a high SPR so you can threaten his stack with a big river bet.Another potential disadvantage is that it limits somewhat your BTN opening frequency as you are risking more on each open plus the BB still has great odds to call with a very wide range.  Cbetting becomes more expensive too.
