Hi everyone, first post in this forum.I am asking help for a problem which has made me a little bit confused. I am using HM to analyze different spots based on my database.Let's take this example (everything has been taken randomly). Based on my database when stacks are 40-75 BB deep check/raising on the flop a TPTK/TPGK is better than check/calling . Therefore let's imagine we are against random opponent, no info, we have QT on a flop T72, we do check/raise on the flop because it is more profitable than check/calling but villain goes all-in. Hence we have to options:1) CALL2) FOLDHM's database states that at this stack depth there are this results:check/raise/CALL = -800 bb/100check/raise/FOLD = -1100 bb/100based on these results, we should be calling because it is less negative than folding but at the same time, considering the action itself calling means putting the stack while being behind most of the time therefore doing in any case a negative action.Should we call or should we fold ?or even better, should we consider the chips put before this action or not ?because if we consider the chips put before we should follow the results and do call, otherwise it is no brain fold because calling is a negative action.[please in the analysis ignore Pot Odds and similar stuffs. What I want to find out is if I have to consider in the analysis of a certain spot the chips put previously or not following HM data]hoping to have been clear, every help is appreciatedthanks xx
i think this will depend greatly on the % of your stack you already have invested in the pot.and how deep the eff stacks are. having invested 40% of your stack 15bb deep vs 10% 70bb deep im sure changes thing (im not a crazy math guy no equations out of me) i also think the answer for a Hu sng in these spots might also be quite different from Hu cash where you can just reload. These hard numbers also dont tell you what reads you had in any of those specific situations, cleary callling vs 1 opponent may be right while calling vs another would be wrongnot all TPTK/TPGK hands are created equal.TP on T72 is much more vulnerable than say TP on K72 stack preservation is also paramount in Husngs.if i had to chose between keeping 50-60% my stack at 40-75bb eff knowing im probably behind or only slightly ahead and risking the rest of my stack im going to be folding much more often since i cant reload like Hu cash.like most poker question im sure the answer is yes/no/maybe....it depends. Im sure someone with more experience than me can provide some clearer answers however.
thanks for your reply mate anyway I am not asking if I should call or fold based on opponent, stack size and so forth. I chose a check/raise situation on the flop but it could have been something else. This is just an example to arrive to this question: when we have to face a decision like calling or folding in that situation, do we have to follow HM (considering the chips put before) or do not we have to consider the chips put before ?in simple words: should we consider the chips put before this action or not?because as I said if it isYES >>>> we have to follow HM data and do CALLNO >>>>> we have to do FOLD because it is a negative action calling on average in that spotas I said to anyone willing to help ignore in the analysis pot odds, opponent, stack size and so forth. just focus on the question if we should consider chips put before or not I was thinking it can be the same spot like those in Mesenneary's book. He talks about on the fact that we should play that type of hands that bring our aspectative less than -0.5BB/hand form SB and less than -1BB/hand from BB. also if the aspectative is negative let's say like -0.3BB/hand we should play as well because precisely it is less negative.so maybe is the same here as well. in those situation we consider the chips put before (SB and BB) so maybe we should do the same as well here in that situation and consider the chips put hence we should do call.every help to clarify is appreciated xx
In the ebook he is mostly refering to wether a hand should be played pre flop or not and jamming frequencies/expectations 20bb deep. vs an aggressive button opener.im not sure how that correlates to calling a flop over bet shove over our C/R when we have TP. and are essentially in a SA/WB situation.in one situation we have FE in the other we do not.
