how to counter 3x level 2++

Hi all, I am a new player in husng, only 300 games on ps.fr, i have a question about opponent raising to 3x after level 1, i know it's a mistake but i m not sure about the best strategy. Actually i try to be more tight vs this and 3bet only A9o+ and any pp but what about my range of call ? QJO+  89s+??Thanks

You didn't tell you the most

You didn't tell you the most important factor, how often does he 3x? and eff stacks are far more important than blind level, because if he is doing this with a wide range and the stacks are good you can 3-bet shove a ton of hands. How wide to flat his 3x also depends on eff stack size and on open%. Maybe post a few examples with stats

yes of course sorry, opponent

yes of course sorry, opponent  vpip 85% raise 85% so a lot and stack are the  same, with same profil on 2x i will of course 3bet a lot JTo suited connectors etc.. and it's also 20€ turbo snghuit s just because it's more expensive so do i use to have same range than opponent with 2x and same vpip preflop raise ? ps: sorry for my English :(

If your opponent does change

If your opponent does change the bet size it is changeing everything. This thread does show a very big leak of yours: you have picked up a 3bet range from somewhere and are useing it against 2bb default open raise. You use this range, because you heard somewhere that it might be good, but you certainly have no idea how this range was created. You therefore are playing 'chart poker' which is not a good thing to do in HU (SNG). It is critical that you understand WHY you would 3bet in the first place. Once you do understand the concept adjusting to another opening size is easy.If your opponent is first to act before the flop, this means that he is in the SB (BTN) and you are in the BB. If you fold, you lose the BB you posted. This means: if you fold 100 times in a row while you are in the BB, your EV is -100bb / 100 or --> -1bb / hand (while in the Big Blind). What you are gonna do is to take every spot that reduces this loss. If 3bet shoveing ALL IN with T3o has an EV of -0.80 bb this is better than surrendering your Big Blind and you take that shot. If 3bet Shoveing TT has a negative expaction >-1.00BB because your opponent opens with AA, KK and QQ only and limps the rest you do not 3bet shove it. As for this situation, many factor have to be considerd:What is his PFR? How often does he fold to 3bets? Is a 3bet shove increasing my fold equity? How often will he Cbet? And: how big will his Cbet be? If your opponents opens 100% and only Cbets when he hits top pair+ this is a completely different situation than if he open 100% and cbets 80% to 1/2 ps. Basically the situation (if your opp opens 3x instead of 2x) changes as follow:Your loss when surrendering the BB is unchanged (you do not lose more, just because he bets more, when you fold)Your possibly gain is bigger. Therefore you reduce your change (basically!).If he 3x 100% and folds 90% you still can 3bet any2. But this a question of how *exactly* your opponent plays.

Hi Barrin,  Thanks for this

Hi Barrin, Thanks for this answer, you told me about strategy with specific opponent, i probably mistake giving this opponent exemple, i would like to know if it is an mistake for him to raise 3x after level 1, all video i saw from primo, rypack .. show raise 2x after level 1, giving possibility to see more flop IP and with same effects than 3x but cheapper. Do you think raising 3x give you only possibility to gain bigger without changing our range ?I 'm not an expert (yet !) but i have not too much difficulty adapting my range with opponent range, just i presume but may be i mistake than 3x level 2+ it's a mistake because cost too much, i m of course not talking about opponent who take an tight range and want to value more his strongest hands with 3x, even if it is also an mistake because you have a lot a visibilty on his hand 3x range and you can easily adapt your calling range.

If your opponent makes the

If your opponent makes the right play by raising 3x instead of 2x, is depending on the player opposite to him. If his opponent calls very wide preflop but folds to every Cbet, unless he hits a monster, 3x or even 4xing can be more profitable than 2xing.If his opponent is 3betting him wide and he folds wide, he is makeing a mistake by 3xing, other than 2xing IF he does it with a very wide range.
