Opponent is opening 70%, i haven't 3-bet so far (after 12 hands, and his oop tendencies – calling 53%) make me think he is tight/aggressive, so i think i have a lot of fold equity pre. My question regarding this hand is, if it is a spot where i could/should think about 3-barreling. I think his range consists of many hands that can call one or two barrels, but have to fold to a river jam. What do you think? If yes, which hands slows you down? $10/$20 No Limit Holdem • 2 Players Hand converted by the official HUSNG.com hand converter BBHero$1370.00 BTNVillain$1630.00 Effective Stacks: 69bb Pre-Flop ($30.00, 2 players) Hero is BB Villain raises to $40.00, Hero raises to $120.00, Villain calls $80.00 Flop ($240.00, 2 players) Hero bets $120.00, Villain calls $120.00 Turn ($480.00, 2 players) Hero ?
I'm not a big fan of hand selection pre, but I think this is a fine hand/situation to 3 barrel. There's likely enough combos of 2nd/3rd pair, especially considering he didn't raise the flop, to make a good river bluff. That said, him being tight preflop is working against you here, and generally speaking we shouldn't run many late street bluffs against this guy because his preflop range is so strong. I'm sure he's still defending J9 type hands so it's not like we're just bluffing into AT+ every time, but keep that in mind on other boards that might not include as many mid pairs for him.
