Doesn't play so well post flop. If I jam the numbers into the poker sniper I don't get a positive result until I'm at like KTo... Against a 50% range villain.
Am I right to think I should be more cautious with K rag below KT or is that too nitty or am I missing something ??
Thanks for any help.
if you miss entirely, no hand is fun to play postflop. you´d have to develop a skill concerning boards, which are ok to continue on, which you can check back, which you can or have to bet-fold, etc... being able to play postflop with marginal holdings is the key component in beating HU games.
one thing the poker sniper calculation misses is that you will take down tons of pots by cbetting, when your opponent also misses completely. don´t worry about that. you don´t need a minimum 50% equity preflop to play a hand with positive EV. if that were the case, a trained monkey could play poker.
another thing: if your opponent has a preflop-range of 50%, minraising Kx already shows an immediate profit, because villain will fold 50% of the time. and the times he calls you, he will, depending on his tendencies, fold a minimum of 30% to your cbet (looser opponents who float you oop all the time are pretty rare), which again shows an immediate profit, considering a halfpot-cbet. don´t worry about not having more than 50% equity preflop against an esitamated range.
Thanks for the answer.
I was just going through Ax and Kx hands trying to tighten up a bit as my per flop range feels too loose, or shall I say I'm trying to understand more the value of thoses low Ax Kx hands against randoms.
At the moments A2 - A4o and K2 - ??? Are giving me the ebejeebees :-)
your current research is pretty academic and i think it doesn´t have that much of an application in the real world. you´d benefit much more from research concerning 3bet-shoving ranges against a given opening range or from learning nash-equilibria for push-fold-scenarios or from calculating equities on a flop, if it´s ok to stack off with a given hand. if you are 30BB deep, it is of absolutely no matter, if you hold K4o and have a 44% preflop equity against a 50% calling range. what equity you have on the flop that comes, the boardtexture and your villain´s tendencies on given textures is much more important than knowing your PF-equity with king rag, when there are chips left to play postflop.
Cool, I understand what your saying. And yes I'm studying all what you mention, after watching PHMERC's video on 3bet shoving against ranges he mentions you should know your percentages of hands against ranges, so this is what prompted me to take look at the figures and the hands that make me go 'Hmmm.' Is this a good idea.
I understand we play ranges and not hands, but still I don't feel as confident with K2o, sure I get some folds per and post flop, but over history I will have to check my tracker ?
I just feel that in the early stages of the game (hyper turbos) low Kx is doing me no good and wondered if anyone trims that part of their range ?
Once someone tells me to remove it from my range, I will add it back again and go forth and crush :-)
Well, at least we hope so :-)
I have yet to find a game where K-rag is not 100% a raise otb (rarely but sometimes a limp). It is also a super std defend against a minraise vs 95% of my opponents. Possibly less at lower stakes where some people open rather tight.
If it isnt hyper I'd 3x that tbh. You gain higher fold EQ, and its really hard to play post flop. - unless you are a minraiser and that is your standard line for anything - then surely just add it to polarized range of opening.
Imagine what would you do with a hand like J8o? probably minraise right? although I think J8o will be easier to play postflop in limped pot and it has really nice equity against trashy that can check back, the Krag hand will be hard to hit anything decent so I'd rather raise it and use my fold EQ PF and cbet post. And in general with pure hand strenght Krag will be better ;-)
Can someone back me up on this?:) maybe im wrong.
cheers.
default, minraise 100% with any KX in early stage of game.
default 100% minraise with 100% hand range, until villain adjusts to my IP minraising
Perfect, Thankyou ka5321.
Go forth and CRUSH !
