Hi,
I dont have a specific HH for this its more of a general question.
I min raise with K7s and villain jams over the top. Id say gennerally he has low pocket pairs and Ax... should I be calling with K7s, 98s, JTs things like this... I know its a risk but the over jam comes too often for my liking..
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated,
Cheers,
You do not need us to tell you if it is plus EV to call vs Range X or not...that is what programs like as ICMIZER are for.
What you need to figure out is if he just has a card run or he jamming over your minraise is an adjustment to your default game plan. Either way; you need to (counter)adjust.
Furthermore; ask yourself: where is my edge versus this opponent? Taking a flip if you can rip him apart postflop in the next couple of hands is not something you want to do.
Hi.
It's the frustrated flips I want to avoid.
Thanks for putting me straight, I was getting to the point where this was going to start to happen !

Yeah, this is the a tough one. Those flips... they can be quite frustrating. But then again, you need to face the truth and the truth is
a) you might end up with a win rate of 52-55%, ,which means that you are gonna lose 48-45% of the matches.
b) you can gain an edge in push or fold
c) a coinflip (=50/50 situation) with deadmoney involved is +EV
Hi.
So the anwers to AB+C would be - ??
A. 'Can u handle the swings' of calling the flips, you may be profitable but only maginaly so ?
B. You can gain an edge by analizing you villains range ? ( My problem is the villian is normaly a random at my stakes (3.50) the shoves come before you have any reads, so the choice to call or not is based on what you said earlier, is it a run of good cards.. or is he running over you...?
C. The coin flip, is 50/50 but the dead money should be siezed upon.
Lets see, I just want to stay calm in these situations and attack with premium hands, of semi bluff hands that play well post flop in the same 'tone' as the villains bet sizing. Ive found 4betting helps put a stop to blatent aggresion.
Unfortunatly, I dont like losing and think that im invincable.
:-)
Unfortunatly Poker has the better of me on both those points :-)
Thanks for the help.

If you wish to play out your opponent and not find yourself to play shove or fold after 3 minutes, you might be better off playing turbo heads up sng.
The biggest problem is that you do not *know* for sure. You can put your opponent on a 35% open shoving range and when you call with K7s he shows you AA. Of course, he is shoving AA as well in his top 35% range, as it is *the* top hand. Yet, many players think they made a mistake. The same is true for shoving with a hand that *lives* mostly from fold equity and getting called by KK.
You need to find some way to deal with it, if you wanna move on and in my oppinion the first step that needs to be done, in order to be able to move on is to realize that your assumption has not been proved otherwise, only because you ended up against the top part of his range.
Remember: In dubio pro reo
Hi.
I just played for an hour and the first few games I got creamed as I sat there cringing in the corner, then variance kicked in and my cards held.
Then I realised you must play to win and variance will always be there, for you and against you, you just have to be in the right spot at the right time.
And I think I can do this, I feel more confident in my game, not being so shocked by the out come of individual calls.
I find that if I can gain the advantage early in any way, when it comes to the push of fold you mention, I'm happy to do battle.
Thanks for the support Barrin, and your honest delivery, it helps.
