This is the second hand of the tournament, first hand villain just openfolded from the button so I'm 100% readless. So my question is that can I play this hand better and can I find a fold ever on the river. I will write my thought process on the hand history.
Poker Stars $1.44+$0.06 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t10/t20 Blinds - 2 players
BB: t490 24.50 BBs
Hero (BTN/SB): t510 25.50 BBs
Pre Flop: (t30) Hero is BTN/SB with 8h 8s
Hero raises to t40, BB calls t20 -- I just min raise here want to get a lot of value out of weaker hands and don't want to 3x and then fold on flop with 3 overcards
Flop: (t80) Kh 3h Td (2 players)
BB bets t20, Hero raises to t60, BB calls t40 -- He bets out and I put him on QJ, flushdraw, T, 3, weak king, or some total air hands. I Think he would have 3betted all pocket pairs and aces. I raise to see where I stand and to get value out of the draws. Dont want to make it too big so raising to 60 feels the best option.
Turn: (t200) 8c (2 players)
BB bets t20, Hero raises to t80, BB calls t60 -- I hit my monster and now I want to get maximum amount of money in. He bets min again and I put him on total air or QJ/Flushdraw, I give him bad odds to call with draws but some hope to call with total air. When I think this back I think I should have made it like 120 or something coz I think all the draws will still call me but air hands will fodl to any raise.
River: (t360) As (2 players)
BB bets t310 all in, Hero calls t310 -- He shoves and I just jump out of my chair, only hand he could have now is QJ or some SICK bluff. I just feel that i have to call. Was this a mistake?
Final Pot: t980
BB shows Qd Jc (a straight, Ten to Ace)
Hero shows 8h 8s (three of a kind, Eights)
BB wins t980
I would have jammed pre flop.
But as played I would have folded the flop.
Go forth and CRUSH !
Why would you shove pre?
Hi.
Second hand no reads.
I have a good hand.
I pressurise my opponent which I exploit later once I have more reads.
I avoid getting into the above situation of OP.
Go forth and CRUSH !
Here is where the mistake happened. $1.50 is a crap level and the opponents suck as hell. You do not raise to see where you stand. You raise value hands. If you find the leak in your opponent game you abuse it and get it in good. Other than that you play for value.
Don't mistake to watch $60 videos and implicate the game 1:1 onto the $1.50 level - you CANNOT do that.
Hi.
