3bs solution
Case: Effektiv stack 400 chips, blinds 10/20 (20bb)

Hero (sb) MR 40 - Villain (bb) 3BS 400

Hero need 45% equity to call (360/800=0,45%)

When I use ICMIZER to see what I can call an 30% 3bs range 20bb deep, I see I can call with Q4s and get a better results (-22 chips), istead a fold (-40 chips).

But when I check in pokerstove and other EQ calculator the same Q4s against the same 30% 3bs range, I only get a equity of 42.25% and it seems like a -EV call.

(3bs range: TT-22,A2+,K6s-K2s,K5o-K2o,Q6s-Q2s,J6s-J4s,T6s-T4s,96s-94s,86s-84s,74s+,64s+,54s)

What have I missed?

A lighter example: Range:

A lighter example:
Range: TT-22, A2+
Need 45% equity
ICMIZER: Show A4s raise - call, loss of 39 chips (slightly better than a loss of 40 chips with a raise - fold)
EQ calculator: TT-22, A2+  vs  A4s  =  40,1% EQ (easy raise - fold)
What is the right decision?
Someone with solution?

I believe you are reading

I believe you are reading icmizer the wrong way.

1) An raise/call will not win, but loose you money.

2) The calculations between ICMIZER and Equilab (or any tool in that matter, but I used equilab), are the same, but they are displayed different. You need to keep in mind that Equilab cannot consider ICM, it simply shows you the equity (42.25% = 40.78% win + 1.47% tie) - the same numbers you will find on my above screenshot, well, with the exception that the chance to tie of course is 1.47% x 2, but in order to give each player the same piece of the cake, equilab does split it up.

Think you're right Barrin! I

Think you're right Barrin!
I have always use "Chip EV" instead of "ICM %EV" in HU calculations.
Had a thought that there was not a special ICM model in HU, since the winner gets it all.

I don't use icmizer, but It

I don't use icmizer, but It looks like you simply misread the program. When the program says you loose 22 chips it must be in addition to the 40 you loose by folding, so you loose 22 more by calling than you would by folding. The example: 360-800*42,25% = -22.  And you get the same results in the other example.

Chip-EV?

Am I seeing this wrong or shouldn't we just use Chip EV in Hyper HU SNGs?
