hi guys. player is pretty undescript. he checkraised me once big on a very dry A94 board, other than that he seemed rather passive. first time he donks into me. i like my AJ somehow, but his river bet seems very polar, if not upright weird to me. the board actually becomes more and more dangerous for villain than for me. should he pot bet a flush there? pretty unlikely, but not unthinkable. maybe a T that was scared of the flush on the turn and therefore bet small? a 5 that wants to bluff although it should be futile most of the time? possible. i don´t see him have a K here, he should have checkraised that on the flop. i think he either has a 5, a T or a small flush. combinatorically i think i am beat. what do you guys think?
as for the rest of the streets: i know that a raise on the flop wouldn´t have been such a bad idea.

Turn (120, 2 players)

Pretty strange line & sizings from villain.
If we give villain an OOP flatting range @ 21BB of:
[A7-A2,KQ-K3,QJ-Q4,JT-J6,T9-T7,98-97,86,75,Kx2x,Qx3x-Qx2x,Jx5x-Jx2x,Tx6x-Tx4x,9x6x-9x5x,8x7x-8x5x,7x6x,6x5x-6x4x,5x4x]
You can only imagine his min-bet donking range would be comprised of:
- value holdings [Kx, Tx, 5x]
- semibluffs [FDs, OESDs, gutshots]
- bluffs [x] ?
[Ax5y,KxQx-Kx2x,KxQy-Kx3y,QxJx-Qx9x,QxJy-Qx9y,Qx5y,JxTx,Jx9x,JxTy,Jx9y,Tx9y-Tx7y,Tx9x-Tx4x,Ac7c-Ac2c,Qc8c-Qc2c,Jc8c-Jc2c,9c8c-9c5c,8c7c-8c5c,7c6c,7c5c,6c5c,6c4c,5c4c]
When the Tc comes on the turn, making the board [KcTd5cTc]
The flop donking range we gave villain on the flop has become:
6.3828% NOTHING | NO FLUSH DRAW | STRAIGHT OUTS: 1-4
2.5643% NOTHING | NO FLUSH DRAW | STRAIGHT OUTS: 5-8
4.6960% NOTHING | FLUSH DRAW | STRAIGHT OUTS: 1-4
2.1410% NOTHING | FLUSH DRAW | STRAIGHT OUTS: 5-8
4.2518% LESSER PAIR | NO FLUSH DRAW | STRAIGHT OUTS: 0
2.5465% LESSER PAIR | FLUSH DRAW | STRAIGHT OUTS: 0
34.4783% TOP PAIR | NO FLUSH DRAW | STRAIGHT OUTS: 0
10.1610% TOP PAIR | FLUSH DRAW | STRAIGHT OUTS: 0
13.5707% TRIPS | NO FLUSH DRAW | STRAIGHT OUTS: 0
4.2910% TRIPS | FLUSH DRAW | STRAIGHT OUTS: 0
11.5080% FLUSH | ALREADY HAVE/BEAT FLUSH | ALREADY HAVE/BEAT STRAIGHT
3.4085% FULL HOUSE | ALREADY HAVE/BEAT FLUSH | ALREADY HAVE/BEAT STRAIGHT
His sizing is VERY strange.
A lot of his donking range on the flop improved to quite strong hands on this turn.
On the river Ks, villain's range is almost entirely strong made hands (except for his 5x that is now counterfeited and any complete bluffs that he took this line with - unlikely in my opnion).
[AhJs] vs even the wide donking range we gave villain on the flop [Ax5y,KxQx-Kx2x,KxQy-Kx3y,QxJx-Qx9x,QxJy-Qx9y,Qx5y,JxTx,Jx9x,JxTy,Jx9y,Tx9y-Tx7y,Tx9x-Tx4x,Ac7c-Ac2c,Qc8c-Qc2c,Jc8c-Jc2c,9c8c-9c5c,8c7c-8c5c,7c6c,7c5c,6c5c,6c4c,5c4c]
has only 25% equity on this river.
You have a complete bluff catcher, but I think by this stage villain doesn't have many bluffs in his range.
He is somewhat polarised between a K and a complete bluff given his Tx may have been scared of the FD that got there on the turn.
But I think his small bet, small bet, big bet line is almost always a value hand looking to get paid off.
I think this is a fold on the river.
i totally agree, except i don´t think he is min donking a king or two pair (or a complete bluff) on this board (which increases my equity to almost 50%). but still: i only beat 5x that got counterfeited on the river which he shouldn´t play like that, because he should expect me to call. i also decided to fold in that spot, which probably was a good idea the way the game developed after that. later in the match he proved himself to be a weak passive spazz monkey (yes, they exist) who decided to overbet shove as a bluff on the flop for 16BB.
Yer, sometimes you play these irratic fish that both play illogically and inconsistently.
I suspect (without any quantitative evidence to back me up) that they aren't neccessarily thinking about good spots to bluff.
I think they generally play make-a-hand-poker and will mix in bluffs on an ad hoc basis.
They might even just get bored / impatient and randomly decide "I'm going to make a bluff here hehehehehe".
It's the only way I can explain hands like this where villain shouldn't ever find himself postflop, but he decides to run a random bluff OOP with essentially zero equity :S

If I had to guess I would say this is one of those guys who is paranoid about being outdrawn.
They overprotect vs draws (FD & overcards in this case). He has A high which is usually the best hand on this board and wants to take down the pot NOW.
Pretty good read to have on a player because it can reweight your evaluation of their ranges in other spots.
eg. when someone who overtprotects vs draws c/r jams on a board like K87 tt, they are more likely to have Kx than the average player who can be c/r jamming a lot of semibluffed draws here.
from my experience at the low stakes, such a shove is practically always a hand that doesn´t know what to do. they don´t want to get bluffed by a checkraise and they don´t see checking back as an option, because as the PF aggressor they feel they are supposed to bet. so they want to chase you away. as far as i remember, everytime i called such a bet, i was far ahead. but the best happens after the hand, if you are told you are a complete donk and a station. :)
Love when you snap off a spewtard and they call you a donk :P
and usually it gets even funnier when you play the donk in the chat and apologize, because you are not used to playing against world class players who expect you to fold to a shove if you don´t have the nuts. another option to make the monkey freak out completely is to offer him lessons 200$ an hour, where you explain him why the call was correct. :)
Lol, trolling ragers that are about to go on super monkey tilt is so much fun.
Reminds me of when I used to play starcraft and zerg players would rage in chat after you execute a very abusive 2base all in as protoss => that reference will be lost on most readers, but if there are any zerg players their blood pressure probably just rose :P
Some other responses that seem to be effective at inducing chat rage spew / tilted rematches:
- Villain: "You're a [donk] / [fish]." Hero: "Whats a [donk] / [fish] ?"
- Vilain: "Blah blah blah rage". Hero: "Fish on a heater"
The funny thing is, some of these raging villains are actually harder to play when they go on tilt because they become WAY more aggressive.
This hand made me think of your mate cbet jamming his Ax :)
Except villain's play in this case is pretty understandable given our history playing each other.

the funny thing is that in the high stakes hands that are being posted every week, you also always see hands that might as well take place like that at the 3,50s. of course there is a huge difference in playing dynamics and in the fact that a 1000$ reg knows what he´s doing and why he´s doing it. but without seeing the player´s names, you might as well think there are two donks spweing off, seeing such a hand in a vacuum.
