Starting out: Turbos vs Hypers

After quitting poker for the last 2 year sdue to personal reasons, i want to give it another serious try. Before i quit i played mainly the $50 turbos and was about to move to the $100s. I recogniced that most of the action switched to the hypers nowaday and am wondering if it would be more wise to start building my br in turbos and later switch to hypers (regarding variance), or just play the hypers right away?

My starting bankroll would be 1k$, and i would start out with the 7$ hypers or 15$ turbos (always used a more konservative brm). My goal is to play the 100$ turbos or equivalent hyper stakes by the end of the year.

If you plan to switch to

If you plan to switch to hypers long term, better to get the experience @ hypers in my opinion.
If you build a roll @ low stakes turbos and then switch to hypers @ higher stakes you will miss a lot of experience playing the hyper format at the lower levels which will benefit your game.
I've only played a small sample of turbos but I noticed the turbo population are a lot worse at playing <= 25BB deep poker than the hyper population.
Also judging from the videos from circa 2 years ago on this site, the games were a lot softer then.
So your game might need some work which starting at the lower limit of the game you plan to play longer term will benefit you.
Would be very interested to hear your thoughts about whether the games have changed much since you played?

hey. i m pretty much open

hey. i m pretty much open minded on turbos vs hypers. if there s still enough value in turbos, i would prefer them though. As to your questions:
What i noticed immediately is that the poker landscape has changed a lot. When i played very actively, i could chose from a whole lot of poker sites and was pretty much able to chose the one with the softest player pool without losing too much volume. I never saw a reason to play on stars. Nowadays Pokerstars is more or less the only option if you want decent rake and volume.
For the games itself, they definitely have changed a lot. I was able to beat the games on bossmedia with 5% rake for a 7% ROI @ the 50$ HUs without working much on my game. In fact, i just watched a few videos and besides that i just played on what i thought was best. I think thats impossible now. There are still plenty of bad players, bad regs and good players. But all of them have got more of a clue what they are doing now it seems to me.
