phl500: Readless Play In Hypers

In the first installment of a new series of videos, phl500, hypers coach and co-author of the popular zZzTILT and phl500 Present: Crushing Hyper Turbo HUSNGs video pack, reviews several hands of readless play that touch on topics such as bet sizing, when to fold and overbetting the pot.

I received an email with a couple of questions regardig the video.

I will answer them here incase it is interesting to other players aswell...

Would like to ask about a hand hero AQ, Q77 4T board, you suggested betting like 140 into 310 and folding to jam, dont you think you might induce some bluff jams?..I mean not many bluffs are calling turn but there are some draws, and would you play any hand here bet 145 and call to jam?..If you think that villain is never bluffing here than you shouldnt as if you jam (trips full or flush) he would probably call trips and Q all the time, and fold the rest so there is no point in betting smaller.

I really dont think the the average recreational player is bluffing here nearly enough to debate about a call.
There are basically no draws besides floated backdoor flushdraws with no additional equity(which got there)
and 56 which is pretty unlickly since villian folds that most of the time on the flop.
So at the end I dont see any hand that floated twice and are now bluffing besides total air or floated A or K high which he is turning into a bluff now.
As I said I would even bet a bit less like 120 here and happily fold to jam.

My strong value hands I would jam 100% of the time against randoms. Against regs I might balance a bit if I have a bet/folding range there.

Also Q9 hand you suggested calling to jam, which I would call also ni that case, but you stated that you would fold J9 and worse. Do you think that kicker really matters in this case?..Imho villian if not super crazy will never valuejam 9 with low kicker, would always check back and be happy about it, and if he got K9,A9that he might jam we are still beat even with Q9.

That brings me to question, you readles here in villains case holding A9 would you valuejam?

Its true that our kicker doesnt matter too much since our hand is mostly a bluffcatching hand. But I still think enough of villians are jamming stronger 9x here.

Either for value or for other reasons. Sometimes if a rec player jams 3rd pair on me on river I honestly have no idea if its for value or if he turned his hand
into a bluff or if he is just clicking buttons.

So if you decide to call T9 here villian already has 2x as many 9x combinations that beat you compared to Q9. Thats the reason I draw the line somewhere.

Yes. either that or bet small to give him a chance to spazz his missed draws
