Typical c/c range here is [8x, 6x, 3x] + for villains that play draws passively (very common tendency at this stake) [FDs, SDs].
The turn brings an overcard and gives you an OESD.
It only completes villain's passively played 97 OESD.
This is a pretty common fish value line with a slow played 2 pair like 86 or a turned Tx which peeled the flop like T9 => they're scared of the draws so they ship it in.
You get layed odds of (490 - 40 - 40 - 80) / (490 * 2) = 330 / 980 = 34%
You have likely outs vs top pair of:

i like to sometimes check back the flop actually. it hits a BB calling range quite decently and if we get raised, we are forced to give up our equity. plus: you can barrel turned A and K on the turn if checked to and will get plenty of folds. on this particular turn, you have an easy call and get to see a cheap river, if you check the flop.

Candidate hands which villain would c/r tend to be draws on this board. Stuff like FD + 2 overs.
If we don't cbet because we are worried about having to fold out our equity, what is the difference between cbet and folding to a raise and giving a free card which benefits the range he would c/r anyway?
Additionally, I think we give up some profitable 2barrel + 3barrel opportunities on future streets on this board by not cbetting.
What's the plan if we check back and villain leads into us turn?

Against an honest and passive station this might be ok but otherwise it feels very bad!
It isnt a magic flop for a random OP and we doesnt have a ton of EQ to loose =A bet is mandatory imo..
We will take this down on the flop or a good turn with way more value than calling and hoping for a "good turn to call or delay-barrel"..

If he leads on turn we are in bad spot. I have no idea. c/c looks so weak, we have no showdown value, so we can only call with the right odds.
raise after the lead makes no sense we, dont represent anything after the check back on the flop.
Exactly, C/C puts us in a very weird spot.. After a check on that flop we cant play it hard with confidence on any other turn-card than J,T,9,(7),(A). When we get this perfect turn we can call if he leads a decent size,
After leading the flop we can play the turn as aggressor on much more cards not risking much more chips, and the times we take it down will weight up the times we get raised(or called) and have to give up..
You played the hand good imo (The only thing to talk about might be the sizing, the flop isnt superwet so we could bet 30.... but thats not a big point in this spot..)
