Regarding video pack and books.

Hi guys,

Is chadders0 video pack good for someone just starting at the micros hyper $1.5, is it applicable at the $1.5 stake? If not at what stakes do you recommend use it?

At what limit do you recommend that I buy Will Tipton's books and video pack? Is it to advanced for someone like me, starting at the micros $1.5 ?

Also what are your thoughts on Collin Moshman's book for HU ?

Also any other recommendations would be very welcomed.

Thx,

Vlad

Yes it is

Hi Vlad,

I also started at the $1.50s and watched Chadders' excellent video pack repeatedly. You need to have a fundamental understanding of poker before you watch the videos, and some concepts will go way over your head but at this early stage of your HUSNG career that's not an issue.

I would watch the videos, then read Mersenneary's free ebook (available on this site) and then watch the videos again. Further down the line think about Collin Moshman's book. Will Tipton's book is also excellent but will be far too advanced for you at this stage - I began reading the book after reaching the $30 level and am still going back over it.

More important than anything at the micro levels is to learn by playing. You could read every book and watch every video available but unless you are playing games, you will learn very little. I made this mistake; spent 90% of time learning and never applied the concepts; it overloaded my brain and was a virtual waste of time. When I switched to a 90/10% playing/learning balance,  I began to understand everything and went back over the resources I had already used.

Conclusion: play - lots. Be ready to bust a couple of small rolls. Once you get a feel for the games and the general dynamics of them, you can start learning how to crush them. It's a slow but very rewarding process; good luck!

Good advice above.

Good advice above. Playing a lot is so important.

Though I think Moshman's book, while good for its time, has started to go past the point of being a valuable read for heads up sit and gos. The same goes for our original videos in 2009-2010. There will be some concepts in both of those that are still relevant and valuable, but it's just not as efficient of time spent as the dozens of newer video packs and hundreds of new videos we've had since then (or in the case of books, Mersenneary's book and Will Tipton's pairs).
