Top pair check raised on flop. 90bb deep and out of comfort zone.

Hi all, firstly sorry but i can't get hand history from Sky Poker to work in the convertor. Hope this is clear enough?

I usually play HUSNG at Sky Poker they start 50bb deep. But  I have started playing low stakes cash, but i have struggled being so deep in these types of situations 90bb deep.

It's only early but Villian has been fairly aggressive and has 3bet 20%. He has Sharkscope stats blocked and seems decent.

My thoughts

I get that horrible feeling as soon as i am check raised, but i discount a lot of AQ, KQ hands that i expect him to 3bet.

I think this is strong line / bet for Villain with QT and so i am only really concerned with QJ! so i make the call.

Turn blanks and he bets 3/4 pot - I am not happy, i am thinking QJ but still never folding. In fact i consider jamming the turn and charging all the draws that are in his range, but opt to call. Was this a mistake on my part?

River blanks and I am left wondering if I am a bit of station and i have folded given his line looks so strong?

How often you Cbet Q9 on the

How often you Cbet Q9 on the flop depends on your overall strategy, but it is a fine hand to bet up to 100% of the time.

This is a clear call on the flop and even against a huge check raise. There is not many value hands in villains range on this board when you 3x preflop (assuming he folds Q2o and J2o) and he 3bet 20%+ (assuming that he 3bet all AQ. KQ, QJs, 88+). The only "value" check-raise hands left is then 22 (3 combos), QJo (5 combos), Q2s (2 combos), J2s (2combos) for a total of 12 value combos. He can also have QT but if he check-raises QT he will probably also check-raise some Q9-Q7. There is a ton of straight draws he can bluff like ATo, KT, T9, 89, T8 etc.

I am not sure how light you need to call down to not fold too often, but Q9 seems a little light to me when 90bb deep. When choosing bluff-catchers blocker effects is important and with Q9o you are blocking the most likely value hand (QJo), but you are also blocking some of his bluffs (K9, T9, 98).

In practice I think his bluffing frequency is close to 0% on this river (assuming villain is a reg who plays calling stations day in and out) and the only 1pair hands I would consider calling is AQ and perhaps KQ.

Please explain why checking is best?

Thanks for the input guys.

Axif - I would consider checking back here a small percentage, but not rarely in this situation against this Villian. Don't you think your missing a ton of value on this board? Is pot control that much more important now that im 90bb deep?

Kalipso, I see exactly what your saying.

Villian seemed to be a reg and this was a poor call on the river. I Should have given him more credit.

Hi,   /if this thread is

Hi,   /if this thread is still alive/

How often did you flop 4bet him earlier? How often he chk-raised you on the flop earlier?

And what about flop reraise, something up to £7, and fold vs shove?

Then if he calls and shoves on the turn - it could be a fold. And If he checks turn - you could check back to control the pot and get additional outs - Q9 is not the best strong TPMK on that board.

What all of you guys thinking?
