10.50 vs Gold Star Pt. 2

Playing the same villain as my previous post but much deeper into the match. I obviously know hes capable of limping strength but he doesn't limp all his buttons. Overall he does a pretty good job polarizing his range. I don't think I could fold here but should I just be calling and not raising. Should that bet sizing have thrown off an instant red flag? Kind of lost on this one.

lol the classic river

lol the classic river overbet
why on earth does it NEVER work for me?

so basically those river overbets are the exact opposite of tiny "please call me" bets

i some ways i feel like this is a beautiful example for what happens when different levels of thinking interlock perfectly. this doesn't mean villain is a better player you just fell for a dirty trick you propably weren't familiar with. happens to everyone at somepoint.

"Should that bet sizing have thrown off an instant red flag?"
agains a tricky player YES.
against a completely clueless fish also. but then in your favor.

On the river you should

On the river you should pause and think about it a little bit, as the board contain 3 diamonds, and you have A of diamonds, He can only have 10 of diamonds worse than you, but will he do that with 10 of diamonds? I doubt he do it, now you may consider naked trips, he won't do it because the 4 diamonds on board, this huge overbet can mean a full and less likely 9T of diamonds or T of diamonds.

I think his range isn't polarised there, when he 3bet your raise he almost certainly made that play with what he thinks is the best hand.

On this board is much more likely him having full because there are 3 broadway cards, and his range is more likely to contain a broadway Kx is a good part of his range.

When you consider raising the river you should name some hands that would call you that are worst than yours, and if there are very few worse hands or none that can call your raise you may consider only flatting. I made this kind of mistake a lot, thinking on the first level only about my hand, IF you paused here and think you may make a good decision. It's very hard to lay down this kind of hand, but flatting is the best option in this situation.

He had a good reason of making this play, a lot of players call this bet with a random diamond here,

flop cc turn cc

that's a weird villain to say the least. There are some bad villains who try to trap you and fail, and in order to make up for the lost value they overbet the river and he is one of them obviously. In general I think I am flatting that river most of the time, folding some of the time and almost never raising because he has either full boat or air

Yea looking back now I

Yea looking back now I wouldn't have got called by worse hardly ever. In the future I'd flat call and live to play another hand.
