Yeah it is not a terrible play. A2 is a hand you want to shove over a raise as compared to calling a 3-bet shove. If he has done it 3 times in a row youd expect to be ahead of his range and have fold equity, just unlucky you ran into AK.Maybe if you raised your button instead of limping your descions would of been easier. For example A2 would be an easy fold if he 3betted your pre flop raise. He may of been less inclined to raise oop if you raised your button. Also he may of just had good hands and been 3Xing for value since your limps look weak -ff you raised he would of simply flatted with his strong hands.
I think the limp with the A2o in the first place is not a good play. I hardly ever limp but especially not when effective stacks are 16bb. I would min-raise(as blinds are 25/50) or even shove. Both plays have fold equity and in my opinion shoving any Ace when eff stacks are low is never that bad.Limping early on can be OK to see how he reacts.222

I think A2 is a bit too weak here. You don't have great equity against any sort of range, it's a play that relies purely on fold equity, in which case you can substitute a lot of hands that can't make strong top pairs or straight postflop nearly as often.I'd prefer to minraise here in general and play your hand postflop, it should play fine in position in a minraised pot. If you have the fold equity to limp shove here and exploit his wide raising, you can basically use a hand less valuable to your minraising range that has similar equity when called by a tight and strong calling range that will still take advantage of your perceived value here: fold equity.
