60USD Hyper turbo - Rate my bluff: I tried to rep trips within the first few hands against a player

Villain had 5% ROI over a 1500 game sample. This was first few hands, so no reads at all other than he is a winning playerI open xx hand he defends, the flop is J87ss, I check behind because this flop gets played back too often and I have no equity, the turn is some brick, IIRC, the 5c, he checks  again and I bet, trying to rep an 8 that would check behing to not get CRed, the river is an offsuite 8, he tanks and leads 100 into 160 and I my first instinct was to jam because I didnt see cheking an 8 on the turn after I check flop so I do jam. What do you think?

you are checking behind here

you are checking behind here a wide range of weak hands, repping the 8X is very hard since most you 8x hands are going to be bet/calling the flop, same with all your top pair + and combo draws, so you are actually repping a pretty bad range, just fold river.

Are you really that

Are you really that comfortable bet/calling naked 8x in this board? We are never ahead, but are crushed pretty often, againt certain players I check it back pretty often.

Thou shalt not tilt.

" I check behind because this

" I check behind because this flop gets played back too often"thats why you get it in with lot of 8x imo

Ok, but when he CRs flop, and

Ok, but when he CRs flop, and we jam we give the option him to let go of his bluffs (if can possibly have any on a board like this)and call with hands that either flip or have us crushed. Looks like sort of a dead end.

Thou shalt not tilt.

Picking up 140-160 chips for

Picking up 140-160 chips for free if he really is bluffing is pretty good, and checking behind with a 8 will put you in lots of awkwards spots later on in the hand . Also I don't think people bluff that much in this spot, its mostly hand that have descent equity like pairs, straight draws and flushdraws.
