Hi hoping someone can give there opinion on this. I love playing hu turbos but with everyone playing hypers now is there any point sticking to turbos? Can a great turbo player possibly could have a better hourly rate than a hyper player at the same level? Hope someone out there can answer his as I'd like to stick to turbos but am I missing out on to much hourly? Regards brad.
There are a few positives I think here:
- On non PS sites, hyper structures (rake or levels) are often terrible (888, Party, Ongame, etc.). Turbos can be an option on some sites.
- You can play both. If you're finding some soft action sometimes in turbos, and other times hypers, you can now take advantage of both.
- You can learn hypers without worrying if you will enjoy them or not. Watching a lot of hyper strategy will undoubtedly help your 0-30bb turbo game, which is a huge part of the edge (far more than most realize, it took good pros years to realize how much edge potential the 10-30bb area had).
The one thing that is difficult to do is to play only turbos at the $100+ level. It's hard to find enough action as a full time player I believe, and if you can play skillfully at $100+ in turbos, you should be able to learn and beat hypers as a good regular as well (and due to action on PS, you should be playing hypers too then).
Hope that helps.
thanks for that. Yer i didnt really think of it with studying hypers and that helping my turbo game. do you think at the 15-60 levels with turbos there is money to be made or it would be better to stick to hypers? i just feel my edge really reduces with the hypers and thats obvious with the structures but i am always playing my A game in turbos and it seems so much difficult to stay at that level with the hypers. I am a part time player and want to be able to play full time eventually and id love to do that in the turbos but your right if i can be successful with the turbos i should be able to transistion to the hypers quite well. Would you know a rough hourly rate of winning turbo players between the 15-100 stakes? sorry for all the questions just very curious. Regards Brad
It's hard to say what hourly rates should be, but I would say 50-75% of a buyin at any level might be realistic for the best regs. Really difficult for me to say, it's been awhile since I've played Stars and I don't look at enough databases to have an idea.
As for hypers, lower edge per game is true, but hourly rate is what you need to focus on. Even if you only have a 2-3% ROI per game, you might get 3-5x the games in per hour in hypers compared to turbos, so the money you make per hour may be far higher.
Playing A game I actually find easier in hypers. The games move fast, so you don't have time to dwell. Even if you get sucked out on 4-5 games in a row, games move so fast. Compared to a turbo game, where you might get sucked out on after playing for 15 minutes, that's harder to handle in my mind. You win and lose $$ quicker in hypers, but it's easier for me to just ignore the chaos of short term results and just focus on decisions.
