Back in the Game

Hey Guys,Ive just joined here, so be friendly.I have always mucked around at HUSNGS before using roll to play MTTs but have decided to commit myself to the HUSNG Turbo grind.I do work full time, so volume isnt going to be massive, but am aiming for 1000~ games per month and am currently grinding at the $15 Turbos on Stars.Few Quick Questions:1 - i have ~35 buyins atm, which i am conmfortable with, as will move down if needed. Am i disillusioned or is 35 buys ok for this level?2 - Used to play the $6.25s and had ~8% Roi, is it mad to think i can achieve this with 1000 games a month?3 - What roll would you suggest moving up to the $30's and $60's3 i - Would you suggest adding $30s into my $15 schedule as i go or just make a full jump when ready?4 - Any one have a listed of Regs @ $15s? Not wanting notes (obv my style of play will mean i would need specific notes ldo)5 - Site selection - Obv at Stars atm, however have thought about maybe starting a roll on either Pokerstars.FR, Poker.co.uk (Boss) or PKR? Would it be worth it!?  I think the € sites are a) Fish Fests but b) How lower Volume?!Maybe running over a few sites in a session will help volume, sayin that i would say im comfortable atm, 2-4 tabling diff Villians, but can comfortably 8 table vs same Villian. Intrigued to what you guys think, and look forward to posting, sharing and watching all the vids Run Good! ;)

1 - 35 buyins is fine, as

1 - 35 buyins is fine, as long as you mean what you say (moving down if you downswing).2 - Not mad, but maybe not so likely right away if you haven't played in awhile.  Mental control is everything, you have to stay focused and motivated, yet be patient with results and improvements (tough to balance).  1000 games is good, that's a very good number to play each month, but make sure your volume is good volume and not tilted/tired play.3 - Comfort is important, anywhere from 25 buyins to take shots to 35+ buyins to move up and make it your primary game.  Add in some $30s when you feel comfortable and have been winning, no need to make it a "black and white" type "I either play $30s or $15s."4 - Basically any player you see often that is a winner will be called a "reg" at this level.  It's not worth worrying about, just avoid rematching guys that are winning a lot unless you want a challenge or truly see some big leaks (and don't be a guy that isn't winning money at the level that decides he just positively has an edge on this 10% ROI player, that rarely ends well, and when it does it's usually kind variance).5 - If anything I would say that is backwards.  The major problem with the smaller sites is that they have much less action, especially as you climbin stakes.  Therefore, it's usually only advisable to play smaller rooms if you 1) are starting out or playing lower stakes 2) the room isn't really that "small" and has sporadic (but very soft) action at higher stakes (Party Poker is a good example of this for HUSNGs).You shouldn't worry about mixing in different poker rooms right now, you should get plenty of volume until you hit the $50s at least, and by then your options will be very few anyways.  Plus, get used to one site's software so you can totally focus on playing and improving.  By the time you switch poker rooms you should be a solid, winning veteran, ready to take advantage of softer opponents or mixing in soft action to your regular grind.  But we're talking about $50+ buyin levels, you don't need to think about that stuff until you're at least at the $50s.Good luck!

Hey, i played you 2 games

Hey, i played you 2 games earlier, maybe you remember me when you see my nick here, its pretty similiar ;) 1. 35 buyins is more than enough, if you feel bad when losing money at the 15s move down, i currently play with the 20 buyin rule but its because i dont really tilt that easily. 2. 8% roi is sustainable at the microstakes, at the 15s i guess you have to be decent and used to twotabling or just singletable. 3. Me personally will take shots at the 30s when i have 700$ and then move down if i get down to 500$. Make a plan and stick with it, do not gamble with your BR.I wouldnt try the 30s before i feel like im better than most of my opponents at the 15s.4. Not really that many regs at the 15, if there is i couldnt notice them. Get a sharkscope subscription could be a good choice, but at the 15 there is usually instant traffic so its hard to check someone up and then join the game.5. I would just stick with stars at the moment, ipoker is decent but tbh there is no reason not to play at stars, just as much fish and alot mroe games/hr. As for our match, i think you need to play more aggressive, you let me run over you by folding so much PF and you had 100% fold to 3bet too..

Well last few days i have

Well last few days i have plugged through 70 games with an appauling 2% ROI lol so actually lost money in the session, not that 70 games is a big enough scope I have found a few things tho.....HEM has me as $300~ below EV, so that tells me ive ran like dog crap (thats in essence 1/7 games ive been bent over)I really struggle with the start of my session - each session i have i seem to lose 3-4 buyins very quickly, then grind it back throughout the session - is this due to being unprepared? Has anyone noticed this and found a way to fix it?2 tabling is fine, and i can play 4 tables when in the flow......i have a prop bet with some friends reg: 1000 games next month (not a lot for regs, but i work full time and am away for a week playin live donkaments) and am happy altho win rate is lower i can still push this profitably. Ive just ordered Collin Moshmans HU book, and am comtemplating Jared Tendlers book too....worth the read.Quick reflection:Games are tougher than they used to be, but deffo beatable.....feel confident going into Aug as this small sample + -EV has me confident i am playing good, Please if anyone rocks up and plays me , please post in here as discussion is the road to understanding...and understanding is the road to profit!!!  Cheers

70 games split up into

70 games split up into sections is what, 7-12 sessions?  That's wayyyy too small of a sample to think that you're starting off playing badly then doing better (the results you're seeing are reflective of say a 30% winrate for games 1-3 then a 60% winrate for games 4-7 and that is basically impossible). If you started strong and ended bad you'd likely be asking about wearing down quickly.  It's very likely to be variance, and if it's not, it likely means you're thinking about it too much and not focusing on the game (or doing something very extreme to where your edge is just a drastic difference early session vs late session).  Comfort is important, but being comfortable isn't going to make you notice tons of more victories in the short term (you might go 58-42 on average instead of 54-46... that's a very big difference long term in profit, but you won't notice it in individual sessions). In short, the differences and impact of this stuff is real, but it does not compare anywhere near to that of variance, so much so that you cannot really see the difference of all these little things in each session/game.
