Usually means they are better than average, but I find it's a much narrower range of skills that these players generally have.
For example, the average non blocked player averages from "total fish" to "world class."
However, most total fish do not know about sharkscope, so you usually get less of those guys with blocked stats.
On the other end, most great players have at least a little bit of ego or self indulgence to keep their stats posted, so you don't usually see the top players with blocked stats. Notable exceptions come to mind such as nofear (not anymore) or skates (not sure if he's blocked now or not). Bcm also seems to block his stats once or twice a year when too many railbirds bug him about his stats.
So anyways, I find a lot of these guys are players that just tilt too often, go on downswings and block their stats. Others just simply want privacy for their stats, others probably feel less information is better (which is probably true but violated the spirit of true openess, if you can view the result it should not be private in my mind). Either way, I wouldn't worry too much about it or put too much weight into it, just don't expect a huge fish or a very tough match against these players.
lol...sorry Ryan, but u first say "For example, the average non blocked player averages from "total fish" to "world class." and then
further u say : "I wouldn't worry too much about it or put too much weight into it, just don't expect a huge fish or a very tough match against these players."..??
In any case if your a good player u want your stats to show so good players will avoid you naturally avoid you...no??
Just my opinion.
Yes, I said the average NON blocked player ranges from total fish to world class (much wider range).
The average blocked player is more like slightly mediocre to slightly good (exceptions do apply, but more often than not I get guys that fall into this range).

As far as good players showing stats so that others avoid them, it makes sense but in reality it's more like "kind of."
To explain, in the higher stakes games the best players are going to sit with any new player, no matter how good his lower stakes stats are, at least at first. If they deem him to be a good player, they may stop sitting him, but the best players don't rely on stats or history to determine who they should sit.
So, if you're a huge winner in the $220-550 games and you move up to the 1k-2k games, it would be pretty surprising if guys like skilled_sox or adonis or genius did not sit you (assuming you did not know them, but even then high stakes buyins often overrule being e-friends).
In the lower games your theory may hold some weight though.
