Hi,
I am a student at university at the moment, with the intention of doing a graduate medicine program in the UK at the end of my degree. This means I have very little time for playing poker, especially when I am trying to juggle all of the social aspects of university. But now we have reached the summer and I have very little to do apart from a part time job, so I felt this is the perfect time to truly immerse myself in some poker learning and playing.
I have played poker for about a year on and off, but have only really taken it seriously since the start of this year. I have had 1 or 2 big MTT hits, and have dabbled in all of the variants on offer, but only recently HUSNGs. Most of my big MTT hits have been withdrawn and spent (but it's definitely been worth it to be looking at this with my 27" iMac screen!), but it has left me pretty skint in terms of what I have available as a starting bankroll. Because of this I will be investing an initial amount of $250, and hope to work my way from the $3.50s to the highest level I can achieve by the end of October.
Initially I have invested in the Greenbast HU Turbo Beginner pack, and the CoffeeHUD which I purchased some time ago. I also already have both PokerTracker 4 and Hold'em Manager 2, but I prefer the format of PokerTracker and so this is the software I will be using to track my results. I have a sharkscope subscription also, and initially plan to table select significantly until I am more confident in my game, at which point I will begin to challenge the weaker regs at stakes I feel comfortable at.
To get the ball rolling I will post the graphed results of my games so far since considering this challenge.
The thing I struggle most with is definitely study, and so this will be a big focus of mine. For the first few weeks I will attempt to study for an equal amount of time as I am playing. As I become more confident at the stake I am playing at, I will gradually reduce this to about half the time I am playing. As I jump stakes I will increase the amount again and repeat the process.
Here's to some great results!

Whatever you do. DO NOT table select. Open sit like a gangster and let whoever play you. If you wanna climb that is. You want to learn poker in all terms, not play this 12 year old kid all day only because he accepts rematches against you. That you can do after you've learned the game.
Good start with COFFEHUD. Watch some BernardC and others clips in the forum-video-section.
Things to have knowledge about or around while playing:
- Nashcharts (just know about it, and how it works, but keep in mind that players play WAY tighter than Nash in 10<bb most of the times)
- General poker terms (Know what everything means in Coffehud hud for starters)
- Learn Hand ranges (Recommend to download flopzilla and SNG Wizard) For example if the players VPIP is 25% - what kind of cards will the opponent sit on most of the times?
I'd play loose a.k.a lots of hands early just to mass them, if I were you. Never play more than 1-2 tables, 1 is the best for learning IMO.
Review 10 hands you player like shit per day (download Universal Recorder Poker). And know that a bad hand is NOT when you call an all in PREFLOP and lose, at most times atleast.
^ That's what I would have wanted someone to tell me when I first started 5 months ago
Good luck.
