This is the second part companion video to veteran Cog Dis's previous posting, a review of a $30 hypers match on PokerStars. Cog's goal with these videos is to discuss adjusting to oppoennts' ranges. As with the first video, Cog Dis first live-reviews as he plays, and then runs through the game in a replayer so that he can delve into more detail on aspects of the game that he found interesting and more thoroughly analyze his own and his opponent's mistakes.
Hay Paul nice vid again, as you may know I'm kinda new on these hypers, but on the hand where u flopped a gutter with Q8 on J97 and he donks 1/3 on flop , and then he check calls 1/2 on a blank turn, u mentioned it was may be better for you to bet 1/3 on that turn to leave u more fold equity on scare river cards, but don't you think you could be inducing a check jam by him if he holds a pair+ gutter if u bet small on the turn?, it felt a bit like by you going for 1/2 pot bet, he decided just to flat (still weird he didn't actually check jammed given the fact he had tp+gutter)

I don't think people jam their pair vs gutter in that spot very often. Most of the time they call and then make up their mind on the river.

I donked because Cog dis doesn't like folding vs donks in general. I'm inducing more bluffs by checking the turn then than by playing straightforward without a donk on the flop. If I'm not donking here, he will just check back too often because the board hits my flatting range very well. But at the same time he will always call a donk with those holdings.
I didn't checkjam the turn against HIM, because he probably knows that people are not check-raise-bluffing a turn very often, especially if it's a 4. I didn't expect to get any value from draws by jamming vs. him. He bets Jx anyway and I can't expect him to call 3bets with 9x and 7x, so betting the river if he checks the turn is still fine. Against a lot of other players check-jamming here can definitely be good.
Unfortunately, by betting half pot, he destroyed his own fold equity for scary river cards that I'd always called with that hand. If I had donked the turn, he would have folded too many hands including his air.
On the river, I was quite unsure what to do. But betting non-allin was not so good. I can't expect him to call with 7x and 9x, no matter if I bet half-stack or get it in, but I can expect him to call a jam with Jx or better that he otherwise checks back. If he has a flush, he has it, no way to checkfold there. And also he is probably not bluffing here often enough to justify checking. So I think a jam would have been best.
Feel free to criticize my line.
Great thought process, I pretty much always attack donks, so I ended up owning myself in this spot.
